If you are trying to play Skate, and are struggling to join a game, this guide will try to provide some solutions. There are currently a few key issues that seem to be giving players a hard time, which we'll address below. The main goal here will be to answer the question that many players are currently asking themselves: why can't I join a game in EA Skate?

Are the Servers Down in EA Skate?

Several Known Issues:

While players are having a wide range of issues, it does not appear that the servers are actually down. Whether any maintenance is occurring, however, is another question entirely. When you first log in to Skate, most players are facing Login Queues, which are essentially just lines of people waiting to join the game. Unfortunately, many players have reported that they'll be kicked from the queue and shown an Error pop-up. Below, we'll cover the few key error codes, and the best current fixes.

Currently, the servers are not down, just extremely overloaded. You can check the status of most EA servers through the website listed below.

How to Fix Error Code 480232561 in Skate

EA Account Connection Issues:

Error code 480232561 is currently one of the major issues players are facing as they try to enter a server in Skate. This has been one of the major issues all the way back through public playtesting, and it continues to plague players now.

The main cause for error 480232561 is an EA account that is not connected to your platform. Make sure you have an active EA account, and then connect it to your platform of choice. You can see which platforms your EA account is connected to through the Connected Accounts section on your EA account main page.

How to Check Your EA Account Connections:

  • Visit ea.com/unable-to-connect
  • In the top right of the page, log in to your EA account.
  • Once you are in your main account area, check the Connected Accounts tab.

Once your EA account is successfully connected to your main platform account, this specific issue should be resolved.

How to Fix Error Code 852146987 in Skate

General Server Overload:

The next major issue that players seem to be encountering is Error Code 852146987, which is a general error for any type of sudden disconnection not related to inactivity (the error code for inactivity is specific to that issue). This error is reportedly linked to general server issues, like overloading. It appears that the number of people attempting to play Skate at any given time is overloading the servers, and simply kicking random players.

Players are suggesting that turning off Crossplay can sometimes help with Error Code 852146987.

This error can be tricky to actually 'solve,' as it may simply be related to the number of people trying to play, and the Skate servers not being able to handle it. Players have had some success with the following actions:

  • Restart Skate and try again
  • Restart your console/PC
  • Restart your router

A much less enticing option is to simply wait a bit and hope that players have either given up, or that there has been some type of server maintenance.

Possible Solution for PC Players – Skate

Some players have reported that downloading the game through the EA app has allowed them to enter the game when other measures failed. To download Skate from the EA, simply install the EA launcher, search for Skate, which is free-to-play, then install. This method has worked for us, and appears to have worked for other players who were struggling to join a server on PC.
