Skate is a long-awaited addition to the Skate franchise as players make a name for themselves as San Van skate legends. The goal of the game is to land the craziest tricks or complete challenges with the most style. This includes challenges that have you jumping off buildings, into dumpsters, onto ramps, or to see how far you can go.
A maneuver that players will need to learn early on is how to Spread Eagle, and it is essential to complete some of the most advanced challenges in Skate. It also comes in handy when players are playing around with the climbing and parkour-type gameplay. So, players who are having trouble figuring out how to nail a spread eagle can use this guide.

How to Spread Eagle in Skate
When players finish creating their character in Skate, they will begin a walkthrough that guides them through all the basic maneuvers and mechanics necessary to start performing tricks and earning points and San Van Bucks. This includes grinding, flip tricks, stunt challenges, and other airborne activities.
Stunt challenges are more advanced and usually consist of things that skateboarders don't do in real life unless they suddenly grow wings. Some of the most complex Stunt challenges in Skate start with doing a Spread Eagle and falling hundreds of feet, through a hoop, and landing on a board. A Spread Eagle is precisely what it sounds like, and when players successfully do one, their character is able to fly long distances when they jump off of things.
Players can do Spread Eagles for fun or to help them complete stunt challenges. When it comes to challenges, missing the window for the Spread Eagle can be the difference between hitting your mark and missing it. The first step is getting the game controls right, so do the following to trigger a Spread Eagle after jumping off a ledge:
- R1 + X (PlayStation)
- RB + A (Xbox)

Players can put their board under their feet after being airborne by hitting the triangle on PlayStation or Y on Xbox.
The next part of using a Spread Eagle is timing. Players may fall too fast and crumble if they don't hit the Spread Eagle at the right time. This is also essential to determine the angle and speed at which your character will go flying. Players can think of this as the in-air version of pumping for a boost of speed. The longer you wait to Spread Eagle, the faster you will drop, and vice versa.
Players can get a feel for the timing by practicing outside of challenges. After mastering Spread Eagles, taking on more advanced Stunt challenges like the Good Luck Stunt gets significantly easier.
