Skyrim: Anniversary Edition launches for the Epic Games Store. One of the most prominent video gaming memes throughout the 2010s was about how Skyrim was being re-released on every possible platform Bethesda could think of. There's even a version of the game on Amazon Alexa, so it wasn't exactly like the gaming community came up with this meme out of thin air. Even over a decade after Skyrim first launched, the fifth Elder Scrolls game is still seemingly finding new life on more platforms.

Recently, Skyrim: Anniversary Edition made its way to the Nintendo Switch. Previously, Skyrim had been available for the Switch, but the Anniversary Edition that released last year contained some new content for even those who ventured through the land of the Nords way back in 2011. Also, for those who don't want to buy the DLCs for Skyrim, the Anniversary Edition contains the Hearthfire, Dawnguard, and Dragonborn content as well.

Now, Skyrim: Anniversary Edition has launched for the Epic Games Store as well. Another platform on PC, the Epic Games Store has risen to be a competitor with Steam in the eyes of many due to the consistent deals and free games it offers. Unfortunately, Skyrim: Anniversary Edition was not listed as the free title on the Epic Games Store this week, and is currently priced at $50. For those that already own some form of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, the upgrade price will be $20.

Despite many fans stating that they are getting tired of the constant re-releases of Skyrim, Bethesda has made statements regarding the launching of the game on more platforms. In 2018, Todd Howard remarked that the company will keep re-releasing Skyrim so long as the those re-releases continue to make money. Of course, rather than journey again into The Elder Scrolls 5, a lot of fans are waiting for the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls 6 to release. However, it might be some years still before the sequel to Skyrim comes out.

Currently, Bethesda is working towards the release of Starfield, which is set to launch in early 2023. While Starfield will likely be familiar to fans of Bethesda RPGs, its sci-fi setting might not be what fans of the fantasy Elder Scrolls franchise are looking for. Still, while the wait for The Elder Scrolls 6 may be a long one, Skyrim players are managing to lessen their suffering a bit by freshening up The Elder Scrolls 5 with new mods that rework how the game runs.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
