The Creation Club for Skyrim Special Edition houses a lot of flavorful mods that make Skyrim feel more like a living world. One of these addons is the Saturalia Holiday Pack that gives players a way to celebrate the oncoming New Life Festival with new clothing, items, and even a Saturalia-themed mount.

Saturalia is a traditionally Breton holiday that takes its name from the ancient Roman holiday Saturnalia, a precursor to and inspiration for the Christian holiday Christmas. As such, the Creation includes lots of jolly tidings of cheer and merriment, and even a new vendor who looks like The Elder Scrolls' version of Santa Claus.

What Is Saturalia, Anyway?

Skyrim Anniversary Saturalia Holiday Overview

Saturalia is a holiday celebrated chiefly by Bretons all across Tamriel as a kind of warm-up for the New Life Festival at the end of every calendar year. Saturalia takes place on the 25th of Evening Star, which is analogous to Christmas taking place on the 25th of December. Long ago in Elder Scrolls history it was a holiday dedicated to Sanguine, the Daedric Prince of Revelry, though it's become more widely accepted and celebrated by the various races of Tamriel since then.

Skyrim isn't the only game in the Elder Scrolls series that references the holiday, not by a long shot. In fact it was first seen in Daggerfall, the second Elder Scrolls game, and has since been an annual event celebrated by Elder Scrolls Online and Elder Scrolls Blades players alike. It's a holiday with yuletide vibes and a Christmassy feel, bringing some warmth to the unforgivingly cold province of Skyrim.

Where To Start The Saturalia Questline

There is only one quest added in the Saturalia Holiday Pack Creation, being "Saturalia Preparation." This quest begins upon installing the Creation separately from Anniversary Edition, though all items and the new mount can be acquired without starting the quest at all for players with the upgrade.

Travel to Dawnstar and head south while looking for a campsite hosting a reindeer and a man dressed in blue fur-lined garb. The campsite is located between Skyrim's northernmost city and Windward Ruins. The "Saturalia Preparation" quest is completed upon talking to Argrane Peryval, who also serves as the Creation's Saturalia vendor.

Saturalia Unique Clothing

There are four items that Argrane Peryval can sell the player, each being a piece of clothing themed for the Saturalia holiday. When worn as a set these items don't confer any special bonuses, but they do make the player look like a more colorful version of Father Christmas himself.

  • Saturalia Hat: 35 Gold
  • Saturalia Clothes: 100 Gold
  • Saturalia Gloves: 25 Gold
  • Saturalia Boots: 35 Gold

While Argrane Peryval doesn't sell anything else (aside from the Bill of Sale), he can be pickpocketed of his weapons and other loot with a high enough skill. He is marked as an essential NPC, meaning he can't be killed, but what fun is there in killing and looting this festive Breton when his goods are so cheap, anyway?

A New Reindeer Mount

The Bill of Sale is the only non-clothing item that Argrane Peryval sells. After purchasing this document the player will be given the Reindeer mount, one of the only non-horse mounts in Skyrim. It's a gorgeous mount with two giant antlers and a Saturalia-themed coat, though its actual fur is a pale gray.

Even though it costs a decent chunk of money at 500 Gold, it's half the price of a normal horse from a stablemaster. If the player buys this Bill of Sale and decides that they don't want this as their primary mount, it will return to the Saturalia campsite where it can be reacquired later on.

Skyrim Anniversary Edition is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S
