A new Skyrim mod called “Call of the Deep” brings a new quest set in an underwater Dwemer city to the popular open-world game. This Skyrim mod looks to be a DLC-sized project, featuring an entirely new quest, a sprawling location, new items, a home base, and more.

Released in 2011, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has been a huge success. Skyrim has many incredible mods, allowing players to tweak the RPG’s gameplay, graphics, add fresh content to the game, and much more.

The Cardinal Sins of Skyrim Explained

There are bound to be a few red lines that players shouldn’t cross, and Skyrim has a few cardinal sins that should be avoided at all costs.

The “Call of the Deep” mod brings a new story-driven quest with fully voiced dialogue and branching choices to Skyrim. The quest starts after the player enters any city, as they will receive a letter asking the Dragonborn to investigate the disappearance of an expeditioner in R’lyend. Located in the Sea of Ghosts, the legendary underwater Dwemer city comes with “challenging puzzles, deadly traps, and terrifying underwater horrors.” Apart from exploring the Dwemer city and making choices in the story, gamers will get access to new weapons, spells, ingredients, artifacts, and a “beautifully crafted underwater player home,” with interactive rooms and a unique custom follower. Created by the modder arminZX12, “Call of the Deep” can be downloaded from Nexus Mods, and is compatible with Skyrim’s Special and Anniversary editions.

While this project will likely not be as sprawling as some huge total conversion mods released for Skyrim over the years, it’ll likely keep players occupied for hours.

This is not the only noteworthy Skyrim mod released recently. Last week, a new mod called “Echoes of Oblivion” brought Radiant NPC voices to Skyrim. According to the project’s creators, the mod included 4,500 unique NPC dialogues that trigger based on factors like location, race, weather, and quests.

Other noteworthy mods that got into the spotlight recently include the famous Skyblivion and Skywind, which aim to recreate The Elder Scrolls 4 and 3 using Skyrim’s engine. Neither of these projects has been completed yet, but Skyblivion could be out sometime during 2025. Skywind received a new demo recently, which showcased features like underwater combat. Hopefully, these projects will be enough to satiate the demand of the franchise’s fans until Bethesda finally releases the upcoming The Elder Scrolls 6, which still does not have a release date.
