Skyrim Grandma has recently started playing The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, sharing her experiences with the game with her large fan base. This is yet another testament to Oblivion Remastered’s popularity, as the open-world RPG continues to be one of the most successful games of 2025.

Shirley Curry, also known as the Skyrim Grandma, is a popular YouTuber with over 1.3 million subscribers. The 89-year-old woman started uploading Skyrim gameplay videos in 2015 and eventually became very well-known within the community. Shirley’s charisma and popularity even led her to gain a character based on her in the upcoming The Elder Scrolls 6, which still does not have a release date.

The fireball towers in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered are apparently not working the right way for every player, as one instance highlights.

Now, despite Skyrim Grandma’s apparent retirement in 2024, Shirley is back streaming her first time playing Oblivion Remastered, and has already published two videos. In the first video, titled “Oblivion Remastered #1 Learning,” the Skyrim Grandma posts her first impressions of Cyrodiil outside the game’s initial jail, and takes her time exploring and getting to understand the game’s control schemes and mechanics. In a second video, named “Oblivion Remastered #2 Still Learning,” Shirley mostly explores a cave infested with rats and goblins, learning how to survive the game’s combat. As expected, Skyrim Grandma’s viewers have been fairly helpful so far, with multiple fans giving her help with how to improve her lockpicking, rest in the game, use the Claryvoiance spell to find quest objectives, and more.

Skyrim Grandma is Playing Oblivion Remastered

Shirley starting to play Oblivion Remastered is certainly a testament to the open-world game’s popularity. While the Skyrim Grandma decided not to play Starfield on her channel, giving a chance to the recent remaster could be exciting for her many fans who have also started to play it. Shadow-dropped by Bethesda and Virtuos earlier this year, Oblivion Remastered was a big hit, quickly becoming 2025's third best-selling game in the United States, behind only Monster Hunter Wilds and Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Hopefully, Skyrim Grandma will be able to explore Cyrodill and have many adventures as she awaits the release of The Elder Scrolls 6, and likely finally meet the NPC inspired by her who will be in the game. Back in 2022, Shirley asked Todd Howard to hurry up with TES 6, but it does not seem that the title is anywhere near release at the moment, with rumors indicating that it could be out by 2026 at the earliest.
