After almost twelve years since its release, a Skyrim player has noticed some hidden treasure outside Bleak Falls Barrow that most players will never have discovered. Bleak Falls Barrow is one of the earliest dungeons in Skyrim, so it’s an area that most gamers will be very familiar with.
When it was first released back in 2011, most gamers never expected that new discoveries would be made in Skyrim all the way up to 2023 and beyond. At this point, most of the discoveries are small, and some can even be hilarious, like the Skyrim player who collapsed after eating all of the game’s alchemy ingredients at once. Still, no matter the size of the details being discovered, it’s still interesting to see them come to light after all this time since release.
Redditor Extension_Travel3535 discovered the secret, and shared it online for all to see. When approaching the front door of Skyrim’s Bleak Falls Barrow, players shouldn’t go inside for this treasure. Instead, if they go around the left side of the dungeon, there is a hidden area where players are able to find a satchel and a lockbox for some free early-game loot. While it’s not a massive amount of loot, it’s still important due to how early most players complete Bleak Falls Barrow in the game.
Players in the thread were surprised by the discovery, if only because of how seemingly in plain sight it is. It’s not a particularly daunting piece of treasure to hunt down, only requiring a small amount of traversing away from the main path. While Skyrim does have plenty of hard-to-find hidden treasures, having seen this, most might not consider this one of them. Others pointed out that Bleak Falls Barrows actually has other pieces of hidden treasure, with many more chests tucked away that many gamers might not know about.
When The Elder Scrolls 6 finally sees the light of day at some point in the next few years, gamers will be hoping that Bethesda continues to include hidden areas like this for players to find. The potential features of The Elder Scrolls 6 are still a hot topic for debate online, only amplified by Bethesda’s silence on the project since its initial announcement back in 2018. With Starfield set to release this year, it’s extremely likely news on the next Elder Scrolls title will begin to ramp up soon after that.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - Anniversary Edition is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
