How to Become Thane Of Markarth in Skyrim
If you choose to side with the Empire, the path to becoming a Thane will be long. If you elect to fight the war on the side of the Stormcloaks, the requirements are different. Win the war on the side of the rebels, and you will be granted Thane status immediately. There are no quests or requirements to complete, the title is yours. If you choose to side with the Empire, you will have to do certain jobs for the benefit of the citizens of Markarth. These include the following missions.
Kill the Forsworn Group
When you talk to Jarl Igmund, he will ask you to destroy the Forsworn, a group of skilled and well-equipped warriors. Prepare carefully for battles with camps of former Reach rulers. Buy a House to Become a Landowner
Buying a house is a common step on the way to Thane status. In the stone city of Markarth, you can buy a beautiful house called Vlindrel Hall. You can do this for as little as 8,000 gold.
