A gamer has recreated The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim's Riften in the recently released indie title Tiny Glade. Many similar projects are also based on the cities of Skyrim, which remains popular nearly 13 years after it initially launched.
Riften, the seat of the powerful Black-Briars clan, is one of the nine major cities in Skyrim. The settlement hugs Lake Honrich to the west, while forests of amber-colored trees cover the remaining sides, giving Riften a distinct appearance even when compared to Skyrim's other memorable urban centers such as Markarth, Solitude, and Whiterun. A gamer has built an impressive replica of this city in Tiny Glade, a cozy diorama builder that was released on September 23.
Skyrim: 23 Most Helpful Glitches In The Game
Skyrim is notorious for having a lot of glitches and bugs for players to contend with, but some of them can actually be very helpful.
Posting on the Skyrim subreddit, user Yohanasan shared images of their Riften build in Tiny Glade that featured key locations like Black-Briar Manor, the Bee and Barb inn, Honorhall Orphanage, Mistveil Keep, and the docks. Yohanasan explained that they wanted to see if they could recreate the home of the Thieves Guild in Pounce Light's well-received indie experience. The Thieves Guild, which has what is considered by many to be one of the best questlines in Skyrim, can be found in the sewers beneath Riften.
Recreating Skyrim's Riften in Tiny Glade
Since sharing their recreation of Riften on Reddit, Yohanasan has also built the cities of Morthal and, most recently, Windhelm, in Tiny Glade. They admitted, however, that the latter project had been more complicated than the others, resulting in some parts of the city being left out. Yohanasan revealed that they would run Skyrim and Tiny Glade simultaneously while making replicas so they could check any of the cities' angles during the building process. The fact that they still had a hard time constructing Windhelm even with a reference just goes to show how complex the city is. Reddit user fonta59, who built a replica of Windhelm in Minecraft, also noted the intricacies of the settlement's features.
People love using Skyrim's cities as the basis of their projects in other games. YouTuber Mojo Swoptops, for example, has recreated Dawnstar, Falkreath, and Riften in Far Cry 5 using the creation tools found in the Ubisoft shooter's Arcade mode. Reddit user Grouchy_Bluejay4511, meanwhile, managed to fit the entire map of Skyrim in a custom Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition scenario.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim's successor is expected to be released in 2026 at the earliest. This upcoming title entered active production after Bethesda Game Studios completed development on Starfield.
