- Skywind is making progress but no release date yet.
The highly anticipated Skyrim mod Skywind has released a brand-new gameplay demo, offering fans a look at 20 minutes of gameplay footage. Skywind is an upcoming mod aiming to remake Morrowind in the Skyrim engine, and progress seems to be going steadily.
Skyrim mods are a massive reason why the game remains so popular to this day. Whether it's big mods or small mods, each adds something unique to the game that wasn't there before. This level of customization has allowed players to transform Skyrim into an entirely new experience. Many large-scale Skyrim total conversion mods never make it to release after their ambitious initial announcements, so it's always great to see a modding project like this come along well.
Skyrim Dev Comments on Loading Screens in Bethesda Games
One of the developers on Skyrim comments on the frequent loading screens found in Bethesda games, explaining why they still exist.
In a new Skywind gameplay demo posted to YouTube, the upcoming Skyrim mod offered a glimpse at the remake of the "Rescue Joncis Dalomax" quest, as well as some new gameplay features to look out for in the mod. Scamps are back, as are Daedroths, and there's even a small look at underwater combat in the gameplay demo, which wasn't possible in vanilla Skyrim.
Skywind Gameplay Demo Shows Off 'Rescue Joncis Dalomax' Quest
Unfortunately, there's still no hint of a Skywind release date, but the end of the video does point out that good progress is being made on the mod. "Almost all essential creatures" have been modeled for the mod, while it also describes spellcrafting as "close to complete." However, it still has a ways to go when it comes to interior level design, so don't expect to see Skywind anytime soon. Still, it's good to finally get an update on where the mod is up to right now.
With Bethesda still hard at work on the development of The Elder Scrolls 6, mods like Skywind and Skyblivion could be exactly what is needed to fill the gap for players. It's still unclear how far away the next instalment of the Elder Scrolls franchise is, and fans could be set for a lengthy wait yet. Hopefully, Skywind can release before The Elder Scrolls 6, although nothing is guaranteed at this point.
