Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been out for a while now, and all of the DLC fighters have finally been released for players to purchase and use to battle it out with opponents. Now that every fighter is finally out, though, players have access to all of the fighters' skins/colors as well.
Most of the time, these alternative skins are merely just a color swap of clothing, but sometimes, the fighter actually changes outfits, suits, gender, and even changes into an entirely different character altogether. Overall, there are some alternative skins for fighters that are simply better than some others due to the major changes that take over a character.
10 Mario's Wedding Suit
Mario has had many different costumes and color swaps throughout each of his appearances within the Super Smash Bros. Franchise. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, though, the plumber has 8 different costumes for players to switch between when joining a match.
Most are just color swaps, but Mario has two specific costumes that are actually different outfits. These are his Builder Mario and wedding suit costumes. The wedding suit costume comes from Super Mario Odyssey and is just dapper!
9 Link's Fierce Deity Outfit
There are plenty of different opportunities in alternative costumes for Link to withhold in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but only a few actually made the cut. Other than those few, Link only has color-swapped alternative skins.
Among the alternative outfits is the Fierce Deity outfit, which is derived from Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. This skin may not be an exact copy of the Fierce Deity transformation, but it does well in mimicking the look, mostly with the colors and facial appearance of Link.
8 Hero's Dragon Quest 3 Outfit
Hero is one of the several DLC fighters that have been added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after the game's official release some years back. The character, surprisingly, has four different, distinct outfits that players can use.
Among the best, though, is Hero's Dragon Quest 3 outfit. This outfit is incredibly nostalgic, being the earliest outfit that Hero players can use.
7 Shadow Mewtwo
Pokemon in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate surprisingly don't have shiny Pokemon forms as one of their alternative skins, and according to Nintendo, that is to keep shiny forms from appearing more common than they are.
Fortunately for Mewtwo, though, the legendary Pokemon has its shadow form, which is most likely the form that Mewtwo had that could be unlocked in Pokken Tournament. This skin simply features Mewtwo in an all black and shadowy color swap, which is more significant than any other of its colors.
6 Dark Link(s)
As noted in a previous entry above, Link only has a few different costumes that actually made their way into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Luckily, every Link in the game (Link, Toon Link, and Young Link) has a Dark Link alternative outfit that players can use.
This outfit features Link in a more sinister look, as Link's entire model is black and gray. Even Link's eyes are a sharp red to make the hero appear much more evil. This look is inspired by the Dark Link that appears in different Legend of Zelda titles.
5 Sora's Timeless River Look
Sora being introduced into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was one of the most hyped reveals that fans have ever gotten for the franchise. Streamers even took to Twitch to showcase their excitement for the character. After Sora was released, fans were in awe at the character's alternative skins, which were good!
Sora's best alternative skin is arguably his Timeless River look. This features Sora in a black and white outfit with cartoonish eyes and even more cartoony features. This look is pretty niche, so it is neat that Sakurai included it!
4 Pikachu Libre
Pikachu has had a grand multitude of appearances in any sort of media that included Pokemon in it, and this fact is not shy of the Super Smash Bros. Franchise either. Pikachu was among the very first characters to appear in Super Smash Bros. 64.
The character generally has alternative skins that feature hats from different regions, but one skin doesn't just change its hat but rather showcases Pikachu Libre! Pikachu Libre was made popular thanks to Pokken Tournament and it was exciting to see be included in Smash.
3 Enderman
One could imagine the excitement that almost every fan of Super Smash Bros. Felt when it was first announced that Steve from Minecraft was going to be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Debatably the largest DLC character to be added in terms of popularity also has some of the best alternative skins in the game.
This character has a different Minecraft skin for each alternate outfit that the player chooses. There's Alex, a zombie, and more, but the best alternative costume for Steve is definitely the inclusion of an Enderman!
2 Meta-Ridley
Metroid fans can finally let out a long-awaited sigh as Ridley has finally made his debut in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as one of the characters belonging to the main game.
This character has some great alternative skins, some of which have been mocked due to their intense colorings, but a couple are simply amazing! One such amazing skin is Ridley's Meta-Ridley outfit. This outfit features Ridley in his classic colors, but as his next appearance after Samus had defeated him.
1 The Koopalings
Bowser Jr. Being added to Super Smash Bros. Was somewhat unexpected, but it was enjoyed nonetheless. The character has unique gameplay that many thoroughly enjoy and is depicted as fairly balanced, unlike Dr. Mario. Not only is this character just a joy within its moveset, but Bowser Jr. Has a different character for each alternative skin!
When the player swaps to a different alternative skin, rather than a color swap, Bowser Jr. Will simply be one of the other Koopalings! This features Ludwig, Larry, and even Iggy!
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available on Nintendo Switch.
