Sniper Elite: Resistance gives players a great deal of customization over their difficulty. They are able to tweak the difficulty elements of the following 3 options: Combat, Sniping, and Tactical. They can also select various preconfigured options that can determine what achievements/trophies they unlock. The easiest option among these presets is Civilian, which can make the player feel borderline unkillable.

The most challenging of all these modes is Authentic, and will be a true test of a player’s skill level. Players also have even more options under the Advanced Difficulty Customization options. Players can change their difficulty at the start of a campaign or each mission individually at Mission Select. Difficulties will not affect multiplayer modes, which have players on even footing.

Best Difficulty for New Players

Sniper Elite_ Resistance Sharpshooter difficulty

Sniper Elite: Resistance has a lot to offer players of different skill levels. New players should start with Sharpshooter difficulty. This will give them all the tools they need to complete levels, along with a marker that shows them where to aim to hit any part of their targets.

Players can take several hits and still be standing, and they will never feel the game is too hard or unfair. Even though this is the best setting for new players, they should still read up on some extra tips where they can find them.

Best Difficulty for a Challenge

Sniper Elite_ Resistance Authentic difficulty

The ultimate test of a player’s skill comes with authenticity. This removes HUD elements, so players do not know how much ammo or health they have left. They will need to open their inventory wheel to see how many bullets are left in their clip, and if they reload, they discard their current clip to put in a new one.

This means players that are used to pressing the reload button will be throwing away a large amount of their ammo. The larger their clip, the more ammo they will waste when reloading manually. They will also no longer be able to make use of their maximum zoom option and will need to account for all targeting elements on their own.

Be sure to unlock all the game's skills, not just the ones that will help out early on. Players should also seek out all the collectables such as those that will help with stealth.

Best Difficulty for Achievement/Trophy Cleanup

Sniper Elite_ Resistance Civilian difficulty

Players that have gotten all of their Gold Medals for Authentic and beaten the game can now take it easy and switch to Civilian. This mode doesn’t even require them to account for bullet drop, and so long as the crosshair is on its target, that target goes down.

This can let players find all the collectibles they may have missed and rack up all the kills for each of the game’s weapons. The biggest grind will be getting 150 kills for 8 of the game’s secondary weapons. This can be significantly sped up by playing Survival Mode, where large waves of enemies will come at players.
