When it comes to modern anime series, it goes without saying that Solo Leveling is one of the very best there is. While the story isn't too complex and is rather straightforward, Solo Leveling delivers impeccable action-packed scenes with an excitingly paced story that fans can't help but be intrigued by. Sung Jinwoo's adventures have managed to amaze every fan with just 25 episodes, and that is a feat in and of itself.

Naturally, fans want to see more of Solo Leveling, since 25 episodes certainly are not enough to deliver a good conclusion. All fans are currently waiting for Solo Leveling's continuation, but unfortunately, nothing has been revealed by the official studio behind the anime series. However, quite a lot of exciting reports have been floating around as of late, and it seems that Solo Leveling is poised for a return sooner rather than later. Anime fans have dug deep into various sources of information and come to the conclusion that their beloved series could very well return this year, and that is truly exciting for all the fans.

Solo Leveling Has Yet To Receive A New Release Update

Solo Leveling Season 3 Isn't Happening Anytime Soon

Solo Leveling Has Yet To Receive A New Release Update
  • Solo Leveling hasn't received a release date for a third season
  • Producer Atsushi Kaneko teases a big announcement on the way

When Solo Leveling Season 2 finished airing, most fans believed that the anime would go on to deliver a new release date update for a sequel immediately. Solo Leveling's story is far from over, and there is quite a lot of exciting, mind-boggling content for the series to adapt. However, at the end of the season, the series did not receive any release date update, which was starkly different in comparison to how things went when the first season concluded. This led fans to believe that there was going to be a delay in the release of Solo Leveling Season 3, and that is precisely what ended up happening.

Even about a year after the conclusion of Solo Leveling season 2, there is no official confirmation on when a third season is going to be released. Of course, both Crunchyroll and Aniplex staff have previously spoken of Solo Leveling season 3, which, at the very least, tells the fans that the series has not been shelved permanently. Solo Leveling will make a comeback at some point in the future, and that is undeniable. The series is way too big for it to be cancelled, and the main question isn't if it'll return, but when. The fans have been eagerly anticipating good news from any source, and it seems that some leaks have already given them the answer that they very much desire.

Fans Think Solo Leveling’s Next Release Will Be A Demon Slayer-Style Movie

Towards the end of 2025, quite a lot of exciting news concerning Solo Leveling was released. Fans knew that a new game was heading their way, but more than that, a quiet update was released via the means of a production committee leak, and it charted the future path that the Solo Leveling franchise is going to take. While most fans expected a third season announcement at some point in 2025, it seems that that is not going to happen any time soon. This is because Solo Leveling does not seem to be aiming for a season three at this point in time, and much of that is down to Demon Slayer.

As fans might know already, Demon Slayer shattered all records in 2025 with its movie release of Infinity Castle Part 1. This movie was so successful that it is still running in some theaters across the world, and that truly paints quite a picture of how massive it has become. Demon Slayer ended up becoming one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, and both in Japan and the rest of the world, it went on to change the industry. It doesn't come as a surprise to any fan to know that the Solo Leveling studio is looking to copy Demon Slayer and profit from a similar project. What makes this project even more enticing is the fact that Chainsaw Man did something similar, and it too managed to get incredible success last year.

If Solo Leveling does continue in this direction, that means it will receive a movie at some point that'd continue things from where things left off in Season 2. This would also mean that a third season would not be on the cards, and that is certainly something that will split opinion among the fans. On the one hand, it will certainly enhance the already incredible quality of Solo Leveling and take it to the next level. After all, movies usually get more production time and have a wider staff that are poised to deliver an even higher level of quality in terms of animation and direction.

On the other hand, fans would miss out on the weekly discussions and experience that come with a season of anime release. Of course, the problem would be solved in its entirety if the movie were then adapted into an anime season with additional content, just as Demon Slayer does at times.

Solo Leveling Could Finally Make A Comeback At The End of 2026

A 2026 Return For Solo Leveling Is On The Cards

Solo Leveling Can Redefine Modern Anime With Its New Release

As far as the return date of Solo Leveling goes, if the production committee report is to be believed, the next big movie is earmarked for late 2026. At the time of the release of the report, Solo Leveling staff had not begun work on the production of the film yet, which meant that this was only a tentative release date. Depending on how production goes, this release date could be pushed back to early 2027 as well. However, at the moment, fans should hope for a late 2026 release date for this amazing movie and for an announcement to come rather soon.

Recently, one of the producers, Atsushi Kaneko, also teased a big announcement for Solo Leveling and asked fans to have a bit of patience. This announcement also seems to suggest that something massive is coming fans’ way, and if it is a movie project, then it would make perfect sense.

A happy New Year 2026. I received this rubber band at the end of last year. It’s engraved with ‘Art is not a crime!’ I’ll make this phrase, which applies to all art, my slogan for 2026, and do my best! And this year, something truly exciting might happen for Solo Leveling fans!! I’m sorry, but please, please wait just a little longer. — Atsushi Kaneko

All things taken into consideration, Solo Leveling fans are adamant that the next step for the franchise is going to be a big movie, similar to Demon Slayer. They are convinced that this movie will go on to shatter all sorts of records all over the world and become the true defining point in the history of Solo Leveling. This movie could end up propelling it to heights never seen before and establish it as one of the most dominant anime of the modern era.
