This post contains spoilers for Solo Leveling.
Solo Leveling's world is filled with dangerous entities that are capable of laying waste to entire nations. In the first two seasons, fans have seen many powerful monsters who had to be stopped by Hunters before they could wreak havoc. So far, the strongest monster that Jinwoo has faced in Solo Leveling is Beru, the Ant King.
Jinwoo came face-to-face with Beru during the Jeju Island arc. The latter only cared about murdering people who tried to stop him. In fact, Beru killed several S-rank Hunters from Japan. However, not even Beru can match the power of the Monarchs.
Solo Leveling: The Best Villains, Ranked
The Solo Leveling manhwa is full of complex, fascinating villains. These are the best that Sung Jinwoo finds himself up against.
Antares Is Stronger Than Most Monarchs
Antares Had More Power Than Anyone Else
- Antares was known as the Monarch of Destruction
- He has unimaginable power
The Monarchs can be considered the main villains of the Solo Leveling universe. Like the Rulers, they too were created by the Supreme Being. The Monarchs and the Rulers have been locked in a bitter tussle for ages. The Rulers even approached the Absolute Being, hoping that he would put an end to the bloodshed, and that's when they learned that the entity didn't care about any of the violence. In fact, the Absolute Being enjoyed the bloodshed. Ultimately, it led to the Rulers killing the Absolute Being.
The Monarchs appeared in the second season of the anime, but they didn't do anything major. This will change in the upcoming seasons of the anime and fans will get to see the true power of the Monarchs. However, not all of them have the same level of power. There is a massive discrepancy in their strength, which becomes quite clear in the later arcs.
Out of all the Monarchs, Antares is the strongest. He is the Monarch of Destruction. He is also known as the King of Dragons, who is able to control dragons like Kamish. For the uninitiated, Kamish is said to be the greatest threat in the history of humankind. The dragon slaughtered countless S-rank Hunters before ultimately being stopped by the National Level Hunters.
While Antares may be a Monarch, he is far superior to the rest of them. Only the Shadow Monarch could truly rival his strength. Antares's physical abilities are almost unmatched. Furthermore, his defenses were nearly impregnable, making it impossible to hurt him. Antares also had a potent attack that could incinerate high-level Hunters into mere ash. Suffice it to say, he had enough power to wipe the floor with most Solo Leveling characters. Even Sung Jinwoo was overwhelmed by Antares' strength.
Sung Jinwoo Vs. Antares Won't Happen Until Season 5
Given Antares' insane powers, it's quite obvious that a fight between him and Sung Jinwoo would be nothing short of epic. The latter has faced a plethora of opponents, but none of them can hold a candle in front of Antares'. The Monarch of Destruction is not somebody to be messed with, but that won't stop Jinwoo from trading blows with him. However, it is worth mentioning that Jinwoo won't fight Antares until much later.
It's likely that Jinwoo will fight Antares in season 5 because the current version of the hero is too weak to beat the King of Dragons. At the end of Season 2, Jinwoo was stronger than most S-rank Hunters, but he was still a level below someone like Thomas Andre and Christopher Reed. Both of these characters were National Level Hunters who were blessed by the power of the Rulers.
If Jinwoo fought any of them in Season 2, they would have put him through the wringer. Considering Antares is an even bigger threat, it means Sung Jinwoo will have to grow a lot stronger to be able to fight on equal footing with him. Due to this reason, it is imperative for Jinwoo to grow stronger and obtain even more dangerous Shadows. When the fight between Jinwoo and Antares is finally animated, fans can expect to see immensely high quality of animation. A-1 Pictures won't leave any stone unturned in making sure that the sequence is absolutely breathtaking.
