Solo Leveling is one of the most popular anime series right now, and much of that is down to the exhilarating battles that the series gives fans week in week out. Solo Leveling started gaining traction immediately after the first season aired, but Season 2 of Solo Leveling, which dropped earlier this year, really propelled it to unprecedented heights and made it a must-watch anime for most fans.

Jinwoo is god level, and the author just confirmed it in Solo Leveling.
Solo Leveling’s anime success has also been reflected greatly in the sales of its manhwa, or Korean comic. The success has been so great that Solo Leveling just beat one of the biggest anime series in the world, Jujutsu Kaisen. While Solo Leveling is first on The New York Times bestseller list for graphic novels and manga for the month of September, Jujutsu Kaisen was only third. This, however, doesn’t mean Solo Leveling has bested Jujutsu Kaisen in overall sales.

Solo Leveling Takes the Top Spot for Graphic Novels and Manga on the NYT Monthly Bestseller List, Surpassing Even Batman
Solo Leveling has, unsurprisingly, been one of the most successful series this year. The anime was such a huge hit with viewers overseas that manhwa volumes have been flying off the shelves. After all, fans need to remember that anime adaptations are, in large part, advertisements for the manga, or in this case, manhwa. While everybody expected Solo Leveling’s sales to be great, not many people anticipated that it would surpass the monumental series that is Jujutsu Kaisen.
Solo Leveling Is Over, But These Anime Will Fulfill Your Cravings
Solo Leveling season 2 ended, but these other anime series will fill the gap for fans.
“While thrilled with the response, I personally don't feel like the series is known by everyone at this point. Solo Leveling isn't as universally recognized in Japan yet. As a Japanese person living in Japan, the anime is not at the level of Dragon Ball, One Piece, or Naruto. But if season three happens, that’s when I want to truly break that boundary.” - Atsushi Kaneko
As per The New York Times’s monthly bestseller list for September, specifically for graphic novels and manga, it’s revealed that Solo Leveling made it to the number one spot with its Volume 13. This is huge, as Jujutsu Kaisen also had a volume this month, that being Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 27. Not only did Solo Leveling beat Jujutsu Kaisen, but it also beat the likes of Batman, which definitely goes to show how popular the series has become.
Is Solo Leveling Bigger Than Jujutsu Kaisen?
Jujutsu Kaisen Still Has More Sales Overall
Solo Leveling is definitely one of the best up-and-coming anime and manhwa series, and while this is a win for the series, it doesn’t mean it has become bigger than Jujutsu Kaisen. While Solo Leveling beat JJK this month on The New York Times list, the latter remains the bigger series, with greater overall sales. While exact numbers are hard to get, Jujutsu Kaisen has reportedly sold over 100 million copies. Meanwhile, Solo Leveling’s numbers are not all that clear, but one thing is for sure, it’s nowhere near the 100 million mark.
The gap remains as substantial as ever, and it’s only going to get steeper as Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is quickly approaching and will generate millions more volume sales in backlog.
“My position doesn't allow me to officially confirm Season 3 in front of the media. We need everyone's support for the next season. […] My favorite technique by Son Goku is the Spirit Bomb. Spirit Bomb, the technique that combines everyone's power to defeat the enemy. So, for the next season of Solo Leveling to come to fruition, we need everyone's power and support for the series across the world.” — Atshushi Kaneko
Solo Leveling has two seasons out right now, one with 12 episodes, and the other with 13, for a combined episode count of 25 episodes available to watch right now. The series can be streamed on Crunchyroll for fans to enjoy while awaiting any more news concerning the third season. For fans who can’t wait for season 3 to come out, checking out the manhwa might be a great option.
