This article contains spoilers for Solo Leveling.
Solo Leveling has grown to be an absolutely massive series that's acquired great success over the years. Fans absolutely love its heated battles, but of course, the series has one glaring issue. Aside from Sung Jinwoo, the main character, nobody really gets any focus or attention.
Solo Leveling: The Best Villains, Ranked
The Solo Leveling manhwa is full of complex, fascinating villains. These are the best that Sung Jinwoo finds himself up against.
For many fans, this is disappointing, as there are quite a few intriguing side characters with a ton of potential in the series. Apart from Sung Jinwoo, some Solo Leveling characters stand out as very intriguing, especially when it comes to the cast of Solo Leveling Ragnarok.
Lee Joohee
Lee Joohee doesn’t play a really significant role in the story after her relevant scenes in the first season. But, even in that short time, she piqued the interest of many fans.
Lee Joohee was with Jinwoo during the catastrophic events of the Double Dungeon, but unlike him, she will never really outgrow the trauma she experienced there. She showcased the reality of being an average Hunter, but she was definitely wasted overall. Chugong even mentioned wanting to create a new story focused on her and Jinwoo, but whether that will happen or not remains to be seen.
Antares
Antares is Solo Leveling’s ultimate villain. As the Monarch of Destruction, he’s the only character who, at the end of Solo Leveling, can stand up to and be a significant challenge for Sung Jinwoo.
This powerful Monarch, who can even take the form of a Dragon, is an incredibly imposing villain that fans can’t wait to see in the anime. Jinwoo and Antares’s rivalry will be quite exciting to witness, surpassing even the battles seen on Jeju Island. Antares could go down as one of the most memorable new-gen villains in anime.
Yoo Jinho
Yoo Jinho is by no means a strong character in Solo Leveling, and he stands only as a D Rank Hunter. However, he’s definitely a character that fans have grown to like, especially since he's always around Sung Jinwoo. Yoo Jinho was first introduced to fans in Season 1, and he was quite useful to Jinwoo, who, at the time, was focusing on leveling up.
Jinwoo and Yoo Jinho have a fun relationship, with the latter seeing Jinwoo like an older brother. The two have always maintained a very friendly relationship since.
Kandiaru
Kandiaru, also known as The Architect in Solo Leveling, is one of the series’s most interesting villains. Kandiaru should soon make it into the anime, possibly in the next animated project, and fans can’t wait.

"You've come at last."—System Architect to Sung Jin-Woo
He’s the villain of the Double Dungeon Arc, and he will go on to give Jinwoo quite a tough battle. Kandiaru, as the moderator of the System, caused the initial events in the Double Dungeon that led to Jinwoo gaining his powers. Without him, Jinwoo’s story could have never kick-started.
I am the record of your struggles, the evidence of your resistance, and the reward of your sufferings. I am death, I am eternal rest, I am terror. - Ashborn to Sung Jinwoo, Solo Leveling Manhwa
Go Gun Hee
Go Gun Hee is easily one of the most beloved and popular characters in Solo Leveling. Fans were introduced to him as the Chairman of the Hunter Association, and it was clear to see that he had a captivating aura about him.
"I've always wanted to fight alongside young hunters like yourself."—Go Gun-Hee to Sung Jin-Woo
Go Gun Hee acted as a father figure for Jinwoo for some time, as Jinwoo’s own father was absent for a long time. His character arc is only just getting started and there will be many emotional moments to follow that will both shock and delight the fans, once animated. His faith in Jinwoo and his dedication have definitely made him one of Solo Leveling’s most standout characters.
Cha Hae-In
Cha Hae-In is definitely the most important female character in Solo Leveling. She is one of South Korea’s strongest in the original Solo Leveling series, being an S-Rank Hunter.
She’s even more impressive in the sequel, where her strength reaches that of a National Level Hunter. Fans, however, would’ve definitely loved to see more of her in the original. Cha does have some interesting moments, such as during the raid on Jeju Island, or even during the Double Dungeon Arc, when she sets out to save Jinwoo.
Her relationship with Jinwoo has also captivated many fans, as they’re the only real romantic relationship that Solo Leveling has.
Sung Il-Hwan
Sung Il-Hwan is a character even anime-only viewers are familiar with. He’s Sung Jinwoo’s father who vanished years ago. Sung Il-Hwan is quite mysterious in the anime right now, but he’s about to play an essential role in the upcoming battles that will break out with the introduction of the Monarchs and the Rulers.
"I Feel Like Something Within Me Is Lost Every Time I Get Stronger." — Sung Jinwoo
Given that he's Jinwoo's dad, he's quite strong, and fans know that he will do whatever he can to save his family. His character arc is just getting started and he will eventually become a fan favorite, and the truth of his disappearance will be fully explored.
Sung Suho
Sung Suho isn’t a character that fans of the original Solo Leveling series will be familiar with. Instead, Sung Suho will make his debut in Solo Leveling’s sequel, Solo Leveling Ragnarok. Sung Suho is Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In’s son, and he plays the role of the main character in the sequel.

He has the same powers as Jinwoo, but he has been shown to make use of them in many unique ways. Suho has become a fan favorite, with some even considering him better than his own father.
Thomas Andre
Thomas Andre is a National Level Hunter from Solo Leveling. He hails from the USA and is actually considered to be the number one Hunter in the whole world until Jinwoo’s rise. Thomas Andre was definitely an interesting character, and the National Level Hunter status aside, his character continues to grow richer in the future of the story.
As the vessel of a Ruler, Thomas was definitely an impressive character to see. Fans can’t wait for him to be properly introduced in this anime, and many are excited for his fight against Jinwoo.
