This post contains spoilers for Solo Leveling.

Solo Leveling is unquestionably one of the most popular anime series in the world. It won over the masses with its enthralling action scenes and overpowered protagonist. Solo Leveling even won the Anime of the Year award, which further proves that the series has undeniable quality.

However, Solo Leveling's popularity doesn't mean that the series is entirely perfect. Actually, it's quite the opposite. While it's true that Solo Leveling has amazing action, it is seriously lacking in other departments, which puts it below the likes of Demon Slayer.

Solo Leveling Is Below Demon Slayer In Terms Of Overall Quality

Demon Slayer's Story Is Superior

  • Solo Leveling's story arcs become repetitive quickly
  • The side characters are not given enough attention

Despite not releasing a television series in 2025, Demon Slayer was the most talked about anime series, and it was all due to the Infinity Castle movie. Demon Slayer's latest movie shattered longstanding records and even dominated live-action projects at the box office, yet again proving that anime is no longer confined to a small group of people. However, Demon Slayer didn't achieve such fame overnight.

Demon Slayer started to gain fans after the first season of the anime aired across the world. Viewers were blown away by the quality of the animation, and the credit goes to ufotable. The studio did everything in its power to ensure that the animation was the last thing fans had to worry about. However, Demon Slayer's animation wasn't the only thing that made the series a major hit. The anime also had a beautiful story and an amazing cast of characters. These qualities separate it from Solo Leveling. The latter has almost the same level of animation, but it pales in comparison to the story and the cast.

In order to overtake Demon Slayer, the Solo Leveling anime needs to focus more on the story. Every single arc follows a similar pattern, where Jinwoo becomes stronger, and then he obliterates his opponents. There are certain instances where the hero struggles a little, which makes the story a bit more interesting, but that loses its charm after repeated usage.

Solo Leveling also needs to put side characters in the spotlight more often. For example, in the Jeju Island arc, all the Korean S-rank Hunters were mostly passengers. Even with their powerful abilities, they struggled to fight the Ants. Even a skilled fighter like Cha Hae-in struggled and ended up receiving serious wounds. Their treatment isn't too different in the other arcs, and it's a major issue that needs fixing.

The first two seasons of Solo Leveling have been phenomenal, and they're a great example of what action anime should look like. A-1 Pictures deserves a lot of credit for creating an anime that is filled with so many exciting fights. The second season of the anime was better than the first, and it shattered many records. Given the reception to Season 2, an announcement for the third season seemed imperative. Unfortunately, there has been no news about the next installment of Solo Leveling.

The lack of updates has left fans perplexed, but there is no need to worry. A-1 Pictures knows the importance of Solo Leveling, and the studio is aware that the series can potentially grow into one of the biggest franchises in the world. Solo Leveling's fame is at an all-time high, and it would be foolish not to capitalize. A-1 Pictures is aware of the situation, and it knows that waiting for too long could backfire spectacularly. So, fans can expect some kind of announcement in the coming months.

Solo Leveling Season 3 will feature one of Jinwoo's most important fights, in which he went toe-to-toe with Kandiaru, better known as the Architect of the System. Kandiaru's meeting with Jinwoo raises the curtains on some of the biggest mysteries in the story. Fans will find out why Jinwoo was chosen by the System to be the Player. Hopefully, the studio doesn't make fans wait too long.
