Solo Leveling has won the hearts of viewers with its high-octane action scenes. The series has set new standards that others must meet or risk being overshadowed. Considering the hero of the anime has unlimited potential, it's only natural that the other Solo Leveling characters have to be strong so that they can challenge him.
One of the names that is constantly pitted against Sung Jinwoo is Thomas Andre. As one of the National Level Hunters, Thomas Andre holds a great degree of power, making him the perfect match for Jinwoo. But is he really stronger than Sung Jinwoo?

Solo Leveling Season 2 ended with Sung Jinwoo taking down the Jeju Island ants and their King and Queen. The King of the Ants posed a massive threat to humankind. His power was so immense that he was able to annihilate almost the entire platoon of S-level Hunters from Japan. If Sung Jinwoo hadn't arrived in the nick of time, the Korean Hunters would have suffered a similar fate. By the end of the raid, Jinwoo had become the strongest Hunter in Korea. While his power level was impressive, he couldn't win against a National Level Hunter, especially Thomas Andre.
Thomas Andre earned the rank of National Level after beating Kamish, said to be the strongest monster to ever set foot on Earth. He teamed up with other Hunters, and together, they took down Kamish. The battle provided Thomas Andre with invaluable experience and made him famous throughout the world.
When compared side by side, it becomes extremely obvious that Thomas Andre is superior to Jinwoo in almost every department. His endurance is higher, and so are his speed and strength. He is also able to cover his body with armor, which further increases his defenses. So, if Thomas Andre and Sung Jinwoo fought immediately after Solo Leveling Season 2, the former would have been beaten to a pulp.
Sung Jinwoo Beats Thomas Andre Later In The Series
Sung Jinwoo Surpasses All Monarchs And Rulers
Sung Jinwoo actually faces Thomas Andre much later in the story, more specifically in the International Guild Conference Arc. After Jinwoo annihilated Hwang Dongsoo, Thomas Andre decided to step in. The two were embroiled in a thrilling fight, but ultimately, Jinwoo emerged as the victor. The hero brutally beats up Thomas Andre, resulting in the National Level Hunter ending up in a hospital for a day. At that point in the story, Sung Jinwoo was vastly superior to any National Level Hunter, and he could take on all of them and still win.
Sung Jinwoo will get his next power-up in the third season when he revisits the Cartenon Temple, the same place where he gained his powers. Upon arriving in the Cartenon Temple, Jinwoo meets Kandiaru, the Architect of the System. Kandiaru offered Jinwoo the chance to learn more about the System, but for that, the hero had to clear a test.
After beating all the statues, Jinwoo had to fight the Architect. Initially, Jinwoo struggled to find his feet, but as the fight continued, he finally found a way to overpower his opponent. After beating Kandiaru, Jinwoo was put in a trance by him. The latter was under the impression that the Shadow Monarch would return and take over Jinwoo's body. However, that wasn't the case. The Shadow Monarch gave Jinwoo the Black Heart, which boosted the Hunter's overall abilities. He became so overpowered that it barely took him a minute to pummel Kandiaru.
Aside from obtaining this power-up, Sung Jinwoo will also face new challenges in the third season. He could likely meet his father after a very long time. Jinwoo has not seen Sung Il-Hwan in ages, so meeting him will definitely overwhelm the hero emotionally. There is also the possibility of Jinwoo and Cha Hae-in's romance progressing further in the third season. Cha Hae-in has been interested in Jinwoo for quite some time, but she hasn't had the chance to express her feelings. Hopefully, that will change in the next season.
