It’s not uncommon for Solo Leveling to skip scenes from the source material, even if it involves Sung Jin-Woo. In the first two seasons, there were changes made that most fans immediately noticed. So, it’s not a surprise when Season 2 removed a few scenes from the Jeju Island story arc, including a short but funny moment between Jin-Woo and his shadows.

Solo Leveling season 2 ended strong with the Jeju Island story arc after bringing the explosive clash between Sung Jin-Woo and the Ant King to life. Many fans tuned in to the fourth ant raid from start to finish, never missing any episode of the thrilling story arc. From the first time the S-rank hunters landed on the island to the final moments of the Ant King, fans remained seated, watching every scene unfold before their very eyes.

That said, it’s not a surprise that many fans immediately noticed the changes Solo Leveling season 2 made from the source material. From skipping Jin-Woo's crucial moment the night before the fourth raid to Choi Jong-In's iconic entrance scene, there are many panels from the manhwa that did not make the anime cut. As a result, some fans are still bitter over these scenes, which they think should have been epic if they were adapted.

One such scene happened after Jin-Woo defeated the Ant King and the rest of the shadow army went to work like usual. In the Solo Leveling manhwa, Jin-Woo's foot soldiers, those who are less powerful than elite shadows like Iron, Tank, and Igris, were doing their job collecting essence stones inside the Ant Queen’s hideout when they were asked to stop. According to Jin-Woo, the foot soldiers don’t need to gather the stones because they will be used to reconstruct Jeju Island and compensate for the damage done. That’s when the shadows let go of the essence stones, raising their hands, almost as if they were glad of skipping work.

Why Did Solo Leveling Season 2 Cut This Scene?

Solo Leveling season 2 removed the scene between Jin-Woo and his foot soldiers, likely due to runtime constraints and relevance to the plot. While the scene is short and hilarious, the anime adaptation has been going in a serious direction, especially after Jin-Woo conquered the Demon Castle and brought his mother back to life. The producers may have felt that there’s no room for more comedic scenes in the anime going forward.

Because of this, many fans are worried about Solo Leveling season 3 not adapting chibi Beru scenes with Jin-Woo. They were hoping Beru-chibi would stay in the anime cut, as Jin-Woo's newest shadow provided some of the best comedic relief in the manhwa.

Unfortunately, as much as fans would love to see the missing Jeju Island scene happen in Solo Leveling season 3, the chances are low. However, they could still see it adapted sometime in the future, should the series release bonus episodes, shorts, or even specials and OVAs like most successful series do, in an attempt to cover everything from the source material.

In addition, Solo Leveling season 3 is expected to move forward with the succeeding story arcs, including the Recruitment arc, Ahjin Guild arc, Double Dungeon arc, Japan Crisis arc, and, if fans are lucky, up until the International Guild Conference arc. That said, there may be no room for the next installment to insert the missing Jeju Island scene, which fans are still upset about.
