This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling manhwa.
Speed is one of the best skills a hunter should possess in Solo Leveling. It is basically a game-changer, letting hunters like Sung Jin-Woo move and react faster than the eye can follow. Without a basic skill like speed, hunters in Solo Leveling are more vulnerable, turning them into sitting ducks in life-or-death battles.
As manhwa fans know, Sung Jin-Woo is the fastest hunter in Solo Leveling after his powers reached peak form. His speed has grown immeasurable, but there are hunters whose reflexes and unique powers let them hang with him for a moment. From Sung Jin-Woo to the vessels of the Rulers, here are the fastest hunters in Solo Leveling.
Solo Leveling: Does Sung Jin-Woo's Sister Become a Hunter?
Sung Jin-Woo's sister is an ordinary high school student, but does she ever awaken and become a hunter like her brother in Solo Leveling?
Sung Jin-Woo
Sung Jin-Woo's Speed Is Immeasurable
Sung Jin-Woo's speed is far superior to any hunters on this list, especially after he inherited the full power of the Shadow Monarch. However, even before he reached his peak form, he was already faster than all the hunters in Korea.
At one point, in the Jeju Island arc, the cameraman failed to capture his movements with the Ant King, leaving no clear trace of him in recorded footage unless the speed was adjusted. Even those with enhanced senses like Baek Yoon-Ho struggle to follow him.
Jin-Woo can also blitz his way through entire groups of high-level monsters before they realize he has moved. Not to mention, Jin-Woo can further increase his speed with his Quicksilver skill.
Sung Il-Hwan
His Speed Rivals the Monarchs
Similar to Sung Jin-Woo, Sung Il-Hwan is also blessed with enhanced speed on par with the Monarchs. As one of the vessels of the Rulers, he wields enough speed to pressure Monarch-class opponents, moving so quickly that even Sillad and Rakan are forced to take him seriously in the Monarchs War story arc. He can match their movements while protecting Jin-Woo, intercepting their attacks every single time.
Even S-rank hunter Hwang Dong-Soo pales in comparison to Sung Il-Hwan's speed, as the latter effortlessly defeated the foolish hunter in the blink of an eye. Unfortunately, his body couldn’t take the power coursing through him, causing his physical form to deteriorate in the end.
Thomas Andre
Able to Briefly Equal Jin-Woo’s Speed
Solo Leveling fans know that Thomas Andre isn’t exactly a speed specialist, but that doesn’t mean he’s weak in that category. He might be a strength-focused fighter, but he can still hold his own against Jin-Woo, who can move and react faster than him.
Similar to Sung Il-Hwan, Thomas Andre is also a Ruler’s vessel, which means he can push his body far beyond normal human limits, including his speed. During his fight with Jin-Woo at the International Guild Conference Arc, he managed to keep up with him long enough through rapid bursts of movements and instinctive counters.
Liu Zhigang
China’s Skilled Master Swordsman
This list would not be complete without Liu Zhigang, China’s strongest hunter, whose immense speed and strength have earned him a reputation rivaling the most powerful hunters in the world.
While Liu Zhigang has little to no feats in Solo Leveling, that one time he confronted a massive horde of flying ants in Season 2 showed his rapid movements and lightning-fast strikes.
Liu Zhigang is also a national-level hunter, which suggests that he could easily compete with top-tier hunters when it comes to speed alone.
Go Gun-Hee
Enhanced Speed Granted by Rulers
At Go Gun-Hee's age, it’s difficult to imagine how he manages to keep up with the strongest hunters in Korea. His health is also declining, which means he’s not in his prime anymore. Despite this, as a Ruler’s vessel with the moniker of “S-rank Among S-ranks,” he retains a level of strength and speed that is not to be underestimated.
True enough, when the Frost Monarch Sillad attacked Go Gun-Hee, the latter was able to avoid deadly strikes by combining timing, agility, and Ruler-enhanced reflexes to survive the encounter far longer than expected.
Goto Ryuji
Japan’s Strongest S-Rank Hunter
While Japan’s strongest hunter, Goto Ryuji, had a disappointing performance against the Ant King on Jeju Island, his speed is still considered exceptional among S-rank hunters. In the anime, he managed to respond to the Ant King’s surprise attack, whereas anyone else would have met certain death.
Before we forget, Goto Ryuji also managed to scratch Jin-Woo's face during the sparring session between Japan and Korea’s S-rank hunters, even though the Shadow Monarch wasn’t taking him seriously.
Cha Hae-In
She Has Demonstrated Incredible Speed Consistently
One of the reasons why Cha Hae-In is so popular in Korea is her speed. She is faster than most of the S-rank hunters in the nation, except Jin-Woo, allowing her to move fluidly and gracefully like a dancer.
But even without her magic abilities, Cha Hae-In is still faster than anybody else. For context, before she awakened, she was a track and field athlete who consistently ranked among the top in the competitions. This probably explains why she gained exceptional agility after her awakening.
There are a lot of instances in Solo Leveling where Cha Hae-In showed her immense speed. She repeatedly landed precise punches on Kanae Tawata during the sparring session before the Jeju ant raid, and in another match, she hit yet another S-rank Japanese hunter in the face before he could respond.
