This article contains spoilers for Solo Leveling and Solo Leveling Ragnarok
Solo Leveling has, over the last two years, been dominating worldwide. Thanks to the remarkable success of Solo Leveling Season 1, the series blew up and it hasn't looked back since. Solo Leveling Season 2 was even bigger, making the anime the most reviewed series on Crunchyroll. What makes Solo Leveling so big isn’t its compelling story. Instead, Solo Leveling is all about the fights, and, of course, at the center of all these battles is the protagonist of the story, Sung Jinwoo, whose charisma is hard to ignore for the fans.
Sung Jinwoo's Next Adventure After Solo Leveling Is Coming
A new Solo Leveling sequel might be on the way, and it will center on Sung Jinwoo again.
Solo Leveling’s Sung Jinwoo is incredibly popular, and he’s the only true highlight of the original series. That said, Solo Leveling also has an official successor for Sung Jinwoo, and that's his own son, Sung Suho. Suho is the next Jinwoo, and fans have been loving his adventures in the sequel series, called Solo Leveling: Ragnarok.
Sung Jinwoo Is Solo Leveling’s Biggest Highlight
- Sung Jinwoo Has Become A Popular Main Character
Solo Leveling has become incredibly popular all around the world. A lot of Solo Leveling’s success can be traced back to one character, and that's Sung Jinwoo, the protagonist of the series. Jinwoo started off very weak in the story, as is the case with most MCs. He was considered weak even among E-Rank Hunters, who are already the weakest among Hunters. However, everything changed for him during the events of the Double Dungeon. Jinwoo ended up being chosen and granted the ultimate power to level up.
With this ability, Jinwoo gained the skill to grow and get stronger. Meanwhile, all other Hunters were stuck at their awakening level. This made Jinwoo an absolute beast, and as seen in Season 2, he went on to reach levels beyond those of an S-Rank Hunter. Jinwoo showed his incredible powers in his battle on Jeju Island against the Ant King.
I am the record of your struggles, the evidence of your resistance, and the reward of your sufferings. I am death, I am eternal rest, I am terror. - Ashborn to Sung Jinwoo, Solo Leveling Manhwa
Jinwoo’s ascension from weak to one of the strongest, as well as his nonchalant personality, have definitely made him a fan favorite among anime fans. In fact, he is so popular that at the Crunchyroll Awards of 2025, he was voted as the Best Main Character of the Year. Jinwoo beat the likes of Frieren and Maomao to attain this title, and this goes to show just how popular he has become. Solo Leveling’s Jinwoo is only going to rise from here onwards.
Sung Jinwoo Already Has A Replacement In Sung Suho
- Sung Suho is Jinwoo’s Own Son
- Sung Suho Has The Same Powers As Jinwoo
Sung Jinwoo is a fan favorite, and that goes without saying, but his adventures are, sadly, already over. While the anime for Solo Leveling is still ongoing, Jinwoo’s story in the Manhwa and novel is over. Realistically, Solo Leveling doesn’t even have that much content left to animate. Solo Leveling might end up receiving 2 more anime seasons at this rate.
Either way, while it’s sad to see Jinwoo’s story end, Solo Leveling has an official replacement for him. This replacement is Sung Jinwoo’s own son, Sung Suho
Solo Leveling Author Confirms Big Plans For A New Sequel Series
A new sequel might be coming for Solo Leveling as revealed by the original creator.
Sung Suho takes over as the protagonist in Solo Leveling’s sequel series, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. Suho is Jinwoo and Cha Hae In’s child, and just like his father, he is quite impressive in combat.
Suho inherits Jinwoo’s powers as the next Shadow Monarch. Despite that, he isn’t a 1-to-1 copy of Jinwoo. Suho stands out greatly in his own way. Unlike his father, Suho relies more on the people around him. He is even able to create shadow weapons to give to his allies, for example.
With that, fans believe that not only is Suho Jinwoo’s replacement, but that he is a superior version of Jinwoo in many ways, and a better main character of Solo Leveling.
Fans do hope that, someday, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok also receives an anime adaptation. Of course, this won’t happen anytime soon, but if Solo Leveling remains as popular as it is right now, it’s almost a guarantee to see this sequel brought to life in the future.
Is Sung Suho’s Adventure In Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Canon?
- Solo Leveling Ragnarok Is Set In Another Universe
Sung Suho took over after Jinwoo’s story ended, but fans often wonder if his story is even canon. After all, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok wasn’t written by Chugong. Instead of the original creator Chugong, Solo Leveling Ragnarok was written by another writer, known as Daul.
My mother used to always tell me that I was becoming like my father quite well...so how would he have escaped this feeling of helplessness...?? ~Sung Suho
While it is true that the authors are different, this project was approved by Chugong, and he does indeed consider it canon to his story. However, there is a major catch. Chugong confirms that, while Solo Leveling Ragnarok is canon, it's mere fan service, and not set in the same verse as his original story. In other words, Solo Leveling Ragnarok is canon as another timeline for the series.
“Ragnarok was a spin-off created for fanservice. I was curious to see how another author would write Solo Leveling. This story is part of the Solo Leveling universe, but it isn’t a direct continuation of the main plot. It’s more like one of many possible scenarios—similar to Marvel’s parallel universes. And of course, I’m also considering the possibility of writing a sequel myself.” — Chugong
In the original Solo Leveling universe, it might just be that Jinwoo never has a son named Suho. For now, however, until Chugong creates another sequel, Ragnarok is the best and only sequel fans will get.
Solo Leveling Ragnarok’s Manhwa Was Releasing Weekly
Solo Leveling: Ragnarok actually concluded in 2025. This was unfortunate to many fans, as the last bit of original Solo Leveling content ran out with it. While that’s sad, some good came the fans’ way immediately after.
With Solo Leveling Ragnarok’s novel over, the Manhwa began to run again. After a break, Solo Leveling Ragnarok’s manhwa returned with a second season. Unfortunately, the artist recently stepped away from it due to military service. It's been confirmed that Solo Leveling Ragnarok will now get a new artist. But, for now, the manga will stay on hiatus until everything is ready to go once again. Fans who want to get more updates on Solo Leveling: Ragnarok should stay tuned as all the updates will be immediately shared here.
