Solo Leveling is getting more popular than ever, with the recent announcements regarding its other media adaptations shedding new light on Sung Jinwoo’s Shadow Monarch powers, transformation, and overall journey to become the strongest in the world. These additional details, unseen from both the anime and manhwa, keep the hype alive and give fans more reason to dive deeper into his legendary rise.
A New Shadow: Sung Jinwoo's Next Power Up In Solo Leveling Season 3 Is Coming
Jinwoo is getting a new overpowered Shadow in season 3, and it will be one of the best in Solo Leveling.
Following the success of Solo Leveling Seasons 1 and 2, fans are on the lookout for the announcement of the third installment that will continue Sung Jinwoo’s historic rise to power. While waiting for the third season to officially kick off, let’s take a closer look at the most important characters in Solo Leveling right now. These characters are expected to assume a crucial role in the difficult journey ahead of Jinwoo in Season 3.
Sung Jinwoo
-
Solo Leveling won’t be the same without its main hero, Sung Jinwoo. He is arguably the most important character in the series, serving as its primary protagonist who is up against the most dangerous enemies in the world. Across the first two seasons, Jinwoo has steadily made a name for himself, proving time and again that he’s unmistakably the one to watch.
Defeating the Ant King on Jeju Island officially established Jinwoo as the strongest S-rank hunter in Korea and Japan. The entire world is keeping a close watch on him, deeply invested in his mysterious abilities that allowed him to clear the S-rank dungeon break on Jeju Island by himself.

Cha Hae-In
Cha Hae-In is yet another S-rank hunter to look out for in the upcoming seasons of Solo Leveling. While she had a disappointing combat performance against the Ant King in Season 2, she is far from throwing in the towel. Instead, she is more determined than ever to grow stronger and prove her strength as one of the toughest female S-rank hunters in Korea.
Additionally, Cha Hae-In has developed a strong emotional connection to Jinwoo, who, as fans know, has repeatedly come to her rescue in times of danger. If she wants to stay by his side and keep up with his growing power, it’s only natural for Cha Hae-In to strengthen her skills. There’s more to Cha Hae-In than meets the eye, so fans can expect her to continue playing an important role in the series.
Sung Jin-Ah
Sung Jin-Ah is one of the most important people in Jinwoo’s life. She is Jinwoo’s younger sister, so all matters regarding her health, well-being, and safety are always his top priority. She also plays an essential role in keeping Jinwoo’s humanity intact, reminding him of the world he is fighting to protect and the people worth risking everything for.
Jin-Ah isn’t a hunter, but she’s still exposed to the dangers that come with being closely connected to Jinwoo. Despite not awakening and possessing any combat skills, her safety is a constant concern and a motivating factor for Jinwoo’s toughest battles. The moment someone hurts her, there's no telling how far Jinwoo's wrath will go.
Sung Il-Hwan
Every member of the Sung family plays a crucial role in Solo Leveling, and Sung Il-Hwan is no exception. He is one of the strongest characters in the series, and his strength has been proven to be on par with, if not superior to, the likes of Thomas Andre and the other national hunters. He is, after all, Jinwoo’s father and the character often referred to by the American Hunters Association as the monster of the dungeon.
Though Sung Il-Hwan has only made brief appearances in the first two seasons of Solo Leveling, his connection to Jinwoo and interaction with the Frost Monarch and the Beast Monarch is a clear sign that his role in the larger battles against powerful enemies after Season 2 will be crucial.

Ashborn
Ashborn is the first character in Solo Leveling to recognize and gamble on Jinwoo’s potential as the next Shadow Monarch. Without Ashborn’s intervention, Jinwoo is as good as dead in the double dungeon, with no chance of redeeming himself into the powerhouse he ultimately becomes.
While Ashborn has yet to make a full appearance in the anime, his influence on Jinwoo and the system itself is enough to shape the course of events in the series. His trust in Jinwoo allowed the former E-rank hunter to enjoy a different life free from betrayal, abandonment, and weakness.
Kandiaru
For eagle-eyed Solo Leveling fans, spotting Kandiaru during the double dungeon incident was as easy as seeing a predator’s eye gleam in the dark. He was present throughout the chaos in the Cartenon Temple, quietly observing the strike team composed of Jinwoo and his fellow hunters while they were fighting for their lives.
Kandiaru looks like one of those giant statues in the temple, but he’s not exactly a lifeless figure. Instead, he is responsible for guiding Jinwoo’s growth as the sole player of the system he designed himself. As long as Jinwoo relies on the system and its functions, Kandiaru will always be crucial to his journey.
Go Gun-Hee
In Sung Il-Hwan's absence, Go Gun-Hee of the Korean Hunters Association (KHA) acts as a father figure to Jinwoo. He is that old anime character who exudes calm authority and unwavering wisdom, guiding those under his care with both compassion and experience.
As the chairman of KHA, he oversees all the hunters in the nation, including Sung Jin-Woo. Of course, he can also break some rules for Jinwoo, under the condition that the strongest S-rank hunter in Korea continues to protect the nation. He doesn’t want a repeat of Hwang Dong-Soo, so he does his best to support Jinwoo in different ways.
Frost Monarch Sillad
Between the two monarchs who appeared on Jeju Island, Sillad is the one whom Jinwoo needs to be wary of. As the leader of the Snowfolk, he rules over formidable ice elves like Baruka from the Red Gate arc, making him a potentially vicious adversary whose power and intellect could challenge even the legendary Sung Jinwoo.
Additionally, Sillad is a monarch whose longing to assert dominance over the humans and the other rulers drives his every move to eliminate anyone who stands in his way. It won’t be long before Sillad and Jinwoo cross paths, as these powerful characters are naturally destined to clash.
