Solo Leveling is one such anime, and as fans know, it's beaten all sorts of records on Crunchyroll, even becoming its most-watched anime. Despite that, however, the title of the most iconic series didn’t go to Solo Leveling, even though it took the world by storm. Instead, One Piece was awarded this title at the AMI, and it is well-deserved for the world’s best-selling manga.

The AMI, also known as The Anime & Manga International Awards, is a ceremony many anime fans have yet to hear about. After all, it’s quite new, having only started this very year. It’s going to become quite prominent, however, as it is the first U.S.-based voting event for anime and manga.

Nevertheless, this year, a vote for the title of most iconic anime of all time was held, and it was definitely heated. Those in the running were Dragon Ball Z, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Attack on Titan, Naruto, and, of course, One Piece. The winner, in the end, was One Piece, per fan votes. This didn’t exactly come as a shock to fans, after all, it is the biggest manga series in the world. Solo Leveling, meanwhile, was not even nominated for this award, which is, of course, expected. Solo Leveling is far from iconic, or even timeless, unlike the other series that made the list.

Is One Piece More Iconic Than Solo Leveling?

Solo Leveling is definitely popular, but to call it iconic would be far-fetched. The anime isn’t even that old yet, having only come out in 2024. It’s hard to say if Solo Leveling will even be mentioned in the upcoming years. Meanwhile, for One Piece, the numbers are clear. One Piece is the biggest manga series in the world, far surpassing Solo Leveling in not only anime form, but also manga. One Piece’s longevity is unmatched, and its sales are still insane, 28 years in. Above all, the quality that One Piece delivers far surpasses Solo Leveling, and every other series that was nominated for the award. Truly, One Piece is the greatest piece of anime/manga there is, and fans will most likely see it rack up many more such awards over the years.

One Piece Chapter 1158 will be out in two weeks. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12 AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on August 31. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1158 is August 31, 2025.
