Instead of Jinwoo, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok follows the story of his son, Sung Suho. As such, a new exciting adventure has officially begun with him. The Solo Leveling: Ragnarok novel concluded in 2025, but its manhwa is still far from over. Sadly, Solo Leveling Ragnarok's manhwa is going on a hiatus, and the reason for why has finally been revealed. Solo Leveling: Ragnarok fans now know that it's because the artist Jin has to take part in mandatory military service for South Korea. This is unfortunate, but fans will also be able to welcome a new artist very soon.

Solo Leveling Ragnarok’s Hiatus Reason Has Finally Been Revealed
  • Jin, The Artist, Has To Go Through Military Service

Many Solo Leveling fans have already heard the sad news about its hiatus. Solo Leveling Ragnarok Season 2 is already over, and this was a huge shocker to the fans, especially as the Manawa just came back not too long ago in late 2025. The series only lasted a few months, and that's not even counting the many breaks that were taken in between chapters.

Fans didn't know why this hiatus was suddenly happening, especially at such an exciting part of the story, but finally, they have their answers.

The reason why Solo Leveling Ragnarok Season 2 is ending is because of the artist. The current artist for Solo Leveling is a man named Jin. Jin has, so far, drawn all the Solo Leveling in Ragnarok manhwa. But, unfortunately, his time as an artist is now over. Jin has to do a mandatory military service for South Korea, and with that, he won't be able to be the artist of Solo Leveling.

Jin dropped a long heartfelt message that fans can read below:

“Hello, readers. I am the illustrator Jin.

I was an avid fan of Solo Leveling throughout my school days, even before I was commissioned to do it.

I started drawing after seeing the drawings and directing of the late artist Jang Sung-Rak, and his influence continues to be the foundation of my work to this day.

After graduating from high school, I continued my participation in contests, and then, through an unexpected opportunity, I was selected to work on Solo Leveling. I still vividly remember how I felt when I heard the news.

About four years have passed since then, and through Solo Leveling Side Story and Solo Leveling Ragnarok, I have gained a lot of experience as a writer and as a person.

There were many shortcomings and difficult moments, but I think it was a valuable time.

As of today, I will be finishing all work related to the piece and taking a short break.

Although I will be away for a while due to personal reasons related to military service, I believe that this time is not the end, but rather a time for further preparation.

I would also like to express my heartfelt support to the successor, another Disciple of the late Jang Sung-Rak, who will continue the series. Given the weight and expectations surrounding Solo Leveling, this will be a challenging position. However, I am confident that he will broaden this world with his own unique style.

I hope that readers will also join us with warm eyes.

I sincerely thank all the artists who worked with me, and most of all, the readers who loved and supported my work. Each and every one of your responses has been a great source of strength for me.

Going forward, I will cherish this experience and strive to present paintings that I am not ashamed of. Thank you so much for everything.” — Jin

Solo Leveling is Getting a New Artist

  • A Disciple of Solo Leveling’s Original Artist, Jang Sung-Rak

While it's definitely sad that Jin is leaving his position as the artist for Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, it doesn't mean the manhwa is over. Instead of Jin, a new artist will take the stage. At the moment, it is unknown as to who exactly is taking over after Jin, but fans do know some things.

It was stated that the new artist for Solo Leveling Ragnarok is a disciple of the original series' late artist, Jang Seong-rak. Fans definitely can't wait to welcome this figure and see just what he's capable of.

  • South Korean Mandatory Service Lasts Almost Two Years

Based on Jin's message, it's obvious that he would love to return and work on Solo Leveling once more. However, when it comes to Ragnarok, it's unlikely for that to happen. As fans now know, Jin is leaving due to military service, which means that he will have to, at the very least, be absent for 18 to 21 months. This is almost two years of time, and by then, Solo Leveling Ragnarok’s manhwa will probably have concluded, unless a lot of breaks take place in between.

  • The Hiatus Is Termed Indefinite

Even though Solo Leveling: Ragnarok already has a confirmed new artist, the manhwa is still going on an indefinite hiatus. The new artist probably still has to prepare for the job. In that sense, the break is still going to go as planned.

I am the record of your struggles, the evidence of your resistance, and the reward of your sufferings. I am death, I am eternal rest, I am terror. - Ashborn to Sung Jinwoo, Solo Leveling Manhwa

The length of the break has, however, yet to be confirmed. In other words, fans still don't know when their beloved series will return for its third season. The only clear thing is that it doesn't seem this will be a long one. Fans of Solo Leveling should expect their favorite Manhwa to return in half a year or so, and it will definitely be an exciting ride for Suho after that.

Solo Leveling has two seasons out right now, one with 12 episodes, and the other with 13, for a combined episode count of 25 episodes available to watch right now. The series can be streamed on Crunchyroll for fans to enjoy while awaiting any more news concerning the third season. There have been no major announcements about a third season so far. Fans can get more Solo Leveling content via the Manhwa.
