Solo Leveling fans had shocking, sudden news a few days ago, as it was announced that Solo Leveling Ragnarok had concluded. While some were expecting the series to soon wrap up everything, the news caught most by surprise.

This marks the first time in years that fans are without weekly Solo Leveling content, although this may change in the next few weeks. In any case, is this the end, or can fans hope for new Solo Leveling stories soon?

The Solo Leveling Ragnarok Novel Has Finally Ended

Title

Solo Leveling Ragnarok

Start date

April 10, 2023

End date

July 23, 2025

After 2 years of serialization, Solo Leveling Ragnarok is finally over. The official sequel to the Solo Leveling novel takes place years following the original story and revolves around Sung Suho, the son of Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In. Because the end of Solo Leveling significantly alters the original timeline, Ragnarok's world might feel a bit messier and more complex.

To be honest, I was probably not so much a "creator" but a humble "guardian," a guide in an already perfect world.

— Daul

Though not penned by the original author, Ragnarok is widely accepted as the canonical sequel to the story, especially since Chu-Gong has stated that he feels that Daul has been able to properly continue the story.

Manhwa "Adaptation" Still on Hiatus

Just like the original Solo Leveling, Ragnarok also spawned a webtoon version, available on KakaoPage (and Tapas in English). However, the webtoon diverges from the original source, taking a different route many times. There are even a few chapters where Suho had to fight his "novel version," which thrilled fans. While the webtoon isn't a direct adaptation of the story, it has kept the major plot lines of the novel.

It is important to note that the Solo Leveling manhwa isn't a perfect adaptation of the original novel, but it doesn't drive away from the source as much as the Ragnarok manhwa does in relation to the Ragnarok novel. In any case, it's been a few months since the manhwa went on hiatus, so the authors could prepare the next arc, which will probably feature the return of Cha Hae-In. Therefore, with the ending of the novel, Solo Leveling fans will have to wait a while before new content drops.

Solo Leveling Could Spawn a Multiverse

While fans may be sad that the novel is over and the manhwa is on hiatus, Kakao Entertainment has already announced it will keep investing in the franchise. Their official statement mentions "endless possibilities of expansion," suggesting that there will be more Solo Leveling sequels and spin-offs, and the franchise could very well spawn a multiverse of stories. The original story already opens some possibilities for multiverses, so fans wouldn't be shocked if Kakao Entertainment follows this route.

Additionally, there is lots of Solo Leveling content being prepared. Netflix has announced a live-action series based on the original story, and Aniplex is likely investing in Solo Leveling Season 3. It likely won't be long before Solo Leveling Ragnarok gets an adaptation into an anime, a TV series, and/or a series of movies.

Is Solo Leveling Season 3 Confirmed?

Since the ending of Solo Leveling Season 2 earlier this year, fans have kept waiting for Aniplex or Sony to announce the third season of the anime. While many rumors have spread, there is still no official news about it. However, producers and executives have suggested that there is some internal discussion about it. Therefore, there is a good chance that, internally, the next season is already greenlit, but they are waiting for the "right time" to officially announce it.

Nonetheless, there is also a chance that the sequel to the anime won't be a season but a movie or a series of movies. If this is the case, there is a chance that they have been waiting for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle to be released in order to determine which would be the best approach to turn the remaining content into movies and how to properly market it.

Solo Leveling is available to watch on Crunchyroll in the US, subbed and dubbed in many languages.
