Solo Leveling is full of jaw-dropping moments that make it unforgettable. Sung Jin-Woo's intense battles are Solo Leveling’s crowning glory, and his journey from being the weakest E-rank hunter to the strongest in Korea was nothing short of extraordinary. However, not everything in the manhwa made the anime cut, as Solo Leveling Season 2 is missing some scenes.
Solo Leveling Season 2 covered six story arcs, from the Red Gate Arc to the Jeju Island Arc, in just 13 episodes. Naturally, the anime had to cut some scenes from the manhwa to maintain the pacing, streamline the story, and fit the limited episode count. From Jin-Woo's fascinating visit to the bank to his cute but short moments with Cha Hae-In, here are some of the manhwa scenes missing in Solo Leveling Season 2.
6 Big Reasons Why Solo Leveling Is The Most Overhyped Anime
Solo Leveling is very popular right now, but the series has many flaws.
Sung Jin-Woo's Visit to the Bank
Sung Jin-Woo Declines an Investment Opportunity
- Manhwa Scene From Chapter 46
Most of Sung Jin-Woo's human moments in the manhwa never came to life in the anime, likely to avoid slowing down the narrative. One of them happened before Jin-Woo visited Jin-Ah's school, when he went to the bank just to update his account and get a debit card. At this point, Jin-Woo has been earning quite a lot, with 1.4 billion won in his bank account, which is natural for most high-ranking hunters.
The higher the rank of a hunter, the higher their earnings. In Jin-Woo's case, however, he has been collaborating with Yoo Jin-Ho in dungeon raids, on top of his side gigs, which became his source of income, allowing him to save money despite being an E-rank hunter. The funny thing is that the bank’s teller offered Jin-Woo an investment opportunity, which Jin-Woo quickly declined.
Yoo Soo-Hyun's Debut
Yoo Jin-Ho's Beautiful Cousin
- Manhwa Scene From Chapter 67
Yoo Soo-Hyun is Yoo Jin-Ho's beautiful cousin in Solo Leveling. She is a popular Korean model and actress, but she is also a highly capable A-rank hunter. She is also interested in meeting Sung Jin-Woo, especially after she learned about his phenomenal display of power on Jeju Island.
Yoo Soo-Hyun was supposed to appear in Solo Leveling Season 2, but her scene with Jin-Ho was not animated. The second season completely ignored Yoo Soo-Hyun's existence, but there’s hope that she will eventually debut in Solo Leveling Season 3. Hopefully, she will get an extended appearance to compensate for her absence.
Cha Hae-In Looks for Jin-Woo
Cha Hae-In's Adorable Helicopter Moment
- Manhwa Scene From Chapter 95
Solo Leveling Season 2 failed to adapt some of Cha Hae-In and Sung Jin-Woo's cute moments from the manhwa. It’s inevitable, considering the anime is not really focused on their romantic development. Still, their short but meaningful moments should not be ignored, especially those that highlight Cha Hae-In's growing admiration for Sung Jin-Woo, since they add more authenticity to their relationship.
For instance, Cha Hae-In asked about Jin-Woo's whereabouts during the trip to Jeju Island. It was the very first time he looked for Jin-Woo and even asked a colleague about where he was. While subtle and easy to miss, this scene shows her growing interest in Jin-Woo.
Jin-Woo Saves a Random Woman
Jin-Woo Threatens a Suspicious Man
- Manhwa Scene From Chapter 94
It seems like Jin-Woo was in a bad mood when he saved a random woman the night before the Jeju Island raid. He caught a suspicious man in the middle of his harassment, showing a darker side of Jin-Woo when he was in a foul mood. While it’s a bad decision to mess with Jin-Woo, it’s more dangerous to cross him when his patience is already worn thin.
Not only did Jin-Woo threaten to kill the man, but he also gave him a time limit. If the man failed to surrender to the police before midnight, Jin-Woo's shadow would kill him without hesitation. This scene did not happen in the anime, but fans should check it out in the manhwa.
Park Jong-Soo vs. Hanekawa
Showdown Between Two A-Rankers
- Manhwa Scene From Chapter 91
A-rank hunters don’t usually get as much attention as S-rank hunters in the anime, despite the crucial role they play in supporting powerful hunters and protecting civilians. However, the manhwa treats them differently by giving them some quirky and intense moments without Jin-Woo or any other higher-ranked hunter overshadowing them.
Before the fourth Jeju Island raid began, a showdown between Korean A-rank hunter Park Jong-Soo and Japanese A-rank hunter Hanekawa happened. Not only did they engage in a heated debate, but they also agreed to participate in a fascinating match-up. The first person who grabs the wrist of the other wins the fight. In the end, Park Jong-Soo effortlessly ends the match like a seasoned hunter.
Jin-Woo Extracting the Ant Queen
He Releases It Eventually
- Manhwa Scene From Chapter 106
The Ant Queen is one of the major antagonists in Solo Leveling Season 2. She built an army of mutated ants on Jeju Island, doing her best to provide for her children and survive. She was also responsible for the birth of the Ant King, who would go on to murder nearly all of the Japanese S-rank hunters.
However, after the Ant Queen died, Solo Leveling Season 2 did not show the manhwa scene when Jin-Woo used the shadow extraction skill on her. Jin-Woo thought the Ant Queen would be a great addition to his army, but when her shadow appeared, Beru explained that she would be of no use to him. Still, it would have been nice to see the anime bring her shadow to life.
Choi Jong-In's Entrance to Jeju Island
The Ultimate Soldier’s Helicopter Jump
- Manhwa Scene From Chapter 95
Choi Jong-In is Korea’s Ultimate Soldier, famous for his explosive fire magic. He is also the leader of the Hunters Guild, making him the natural rival of the White Tiger Guild’s Baek Yoon-Ho. While he looks like a villain most of the time, he is one of Sung Jin-Woo's support systems. He understands that Jin-Woo is stronger than him and is not afraid to admit his limitations.
Even so, Choi Jong-In has some of the best moments in the Solo Leveling manhwa. One of them happened in the Jeju Island arc, where he jumped from the helicopter to check out the island while saying one of his best lines. He looks like the main character of the series, as he officially starts the fourth ant raid with his unrivaled fire magic, lighting up the battlefield.
