This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling manhwa.

Solo Leveling created a monster out of Sung Jin-Woo, transforming the once E-rank underdog into an unstoppable hunter with no remorse for crushing anyone or anything that stands in his way. There’s no end to Jin-Woo's rise to power, as he relentlessly grinds levels and defeats stronger opponents, leaving only a trail of destruction that terrifies both hunters and monsters alike.

Apart from Sung Jin-Woo, there are other powerful monsters in Solo Leveling. The Monarchs, who recently came out of the shadows, possess terrifying powers that can even rival the National hunters. However, fans will have to say goodbye to a powerful Monarch in Solo Leveling Season 3. And no, it’s neither the Beast Monarch nor the Frost Monarch.

The Monarch of the Beginning Could Appear in Solo Leveling Season 3

Legia Is One of the Nine Powerful Monarchs

  • Legia, the Monarch of the Beginning, is the boss of the S-rank gate in Japan.
  • Legia opposes Jin-Woo despite sharing the same title of Monarch.

While Solo Leveling Season 3 is still unconfirmed, fans are already expecting the Japan Crisis story arc to be adapted next season. If so, the Monarch of the Beginning, Legia, will appear as the boss of the S-rank dungeon break that occurred in the middle of the streets of Tokyo, Japan. Unlike the dungeon break on Jeju Island, the crisis in Japan is on a completely different level, thanks to the presence of the giants.

With a high-rank dungeon break threatening to wipe out all of Asia, Sung Jin-Woo is left with no choice but to intervene, despite concerns from his sister and mother. His arrival in Tokyo will lead him straight to the S-rank dungeon, where a chained-up Legia awaits his presence. Unlike other Monarchs who are free to do what they want, Legia is chained up, unable to fight.

Even so, Legia’s army of giants tears through Tokyo, killing a total of three S-rank hunters and several A-rank hunters. While cleaning up after these deceased hunters won’t be a problem for Jin-Woo and the shadow army, the sheer scale of destruction left behind forces him to act quickly.

Sung Jin-Woo Will Take Down Legia in Japan

Legia Is Not on Humanity's Side

It's Time To Admit Solo Leveling Has Been Beaten By A 2025 Anime

Legia is one of the characters who learned a thing or two about the consequences of messing with Sung Jin-Woo. He might be the Monarch of the Beginning who possesses monstrous abilities, but even his ancient power pales in comparison to the Shadow Monarch’s strength. Despite his title and fearsome reputation, Legia’s arrogance crumbles the moment he dares to challenge Sung Jin-Woo.

Legia went from having an honest deal with Jin-Woo to realizing too late that the Shadow Monarch plays by his own rules. Not only did he attack Jin-Woo with all his strength, but he also confirmed that Jin-Woo had no intention of abandoning humanity to join the side of the Monarchs.

Jin-Woo, on the other hand, refuses to let someone dangerous like Legia live, for he could become a calamity in the future. With the mana crystal embedded in Legia’s back, urging him to kill all the humans, the Monarch of the Beginning is nothing more than a ticking time bomb that Jin-Woo needs to eliminate before it’s too late.

Forget about the deal. It's too dangerous to keep you alive.—Jin-Woo to Legia

However, for Legia, Jin-Woo could be that calamity, someone whose power surpasses the limits of both Monarchs and Rulers alike. In his eyes, Jin-Woo is a new kind of monarch entirely, one who refuses to be bound by fate or allegiance.

The Rest of the Monarchs Will Come After Jin-Woo

Anime fans witnessed the debut of three powerful Monarchs in Solo Leveling Season 2, although Jin-Woo had already killed Baran on the Demon Castle’s very top floor. By the end of the Jeju ant raid, the Frost Monarch and the Beast Monarch made their presence known, marking the beginning of an even greater conflict for Sung Jin-Woo in Solo Leveling Season 3.

Upon hearing the news of Ashborn’s betrayal, on top of Legia’s untimely demise, the rest of the Monarchs will eventually plot against Sung Jin-Woo, as revealed in the Solo Leveling manhwa. While some of the Monarchs will cooperate and attack in groups to defeat Jin-Woo, others will take their time to wait for the strongest Monarch capable of defeating Jin-Woo.
