This post contains spoilers for Solo Leveling.

The first two seasons of Solo Leveling made it extremely clear that there will always be someone stronger than Sung Jinwoo. They only exist as obstacles that the hero must surpass en route to becoming the strongest Hunter in history. In the second season, Sung Jinwoo fought many powerful characters, and a handful even overwhelmed him temporarily.

Jinwoo's story really started with the Statue of God. He will have a rematch with this monster soon in Solo Leveling.

By the end of Season 2, Sung Jinwoo had supplanted almost every single hunter from Korea. His physical abilities were on a whole different level, and he kept up with the likes of Beru. Jinwoo's strength is certainly impressive, but he's far from being the strongest character in Solo Leveling.

The Architect Will Make His Debut In Solo Leveling Season 3

  • The Architect will appear in the third season
  • The Shadow Monarch will reveal his strength

In the third season of Solo Leveling, Sung Jinwoo will head to Cartenon Temple, the place where it all began for the hero. He received the key to the temple in season 2 but decided not to head there immediately, which turned out to be the right decision. Jinwoo first focused on creating his own guild and registering it. The biggest problem that he faced was related to the guild's name. Finally, after a lot of thinking, he decided to name it the Ahjin Guild. Once the matters related to the guild were resolved, Sung Jinwoo headed to the Cartenon Temple.

As Jinwoo used the key to enter the place, the memories related to the temple came flooding. He remembered how he was nearly killed by the statues. But the hero knew that things were going to be different the second time around. Not long after entering the temple, Jinwoo was put to the test by Kandiaru, the Architect of the System, who made it very clear that the hero wouldn't get answers unless he passed the test.

Sung Jinwoo was ready for the challenge, so he immediately began demolishing the statues. Following their destruction, the God Statue began its onslaught, only to be crushed by Jinwoo. Once all of them had been dealt with, Kandiaru gave Jinwoo one last challenge, and that was to beat the Architect within 10 minutes. If Jinwoo failed to beat the Architect within the time limit, he would die.

The Architect Overpowered Sung Jinwoo

When Jinwoo began attacking the Architect, it became clear that there was a noticeable difference between their strengths. The hero used his flashiest attacks, but Kandiaru countered them effortlessly. Things weren't looking good for Jinwoo, but he refused to give up, a quality that he had before becoming the Player. After some time, Sung Jinwoo finally began to gain the upper hand in the fight and ultimately defeated the Architect.

The Shadow Monarch Will Make His Debut In Season 3

Following his defeat, the Architect caught Jinwoo off-guard and placed him in a state of paralysis. It was during this time that Jinwoo experienced the battle between Ashborn and Rakan and Baran. He saw how the Shadow Monarch fought against the two and eventually killed Baran. There was another segment where Ashborn and a plethora of magical beasts went up against the army of Rulers. Unsurprisingly, Ashborn secured the victory again. From the short flashback, it became obvious that Ashborn was a force to be reckoned with. If the third season also covers the Monarchs War Arc (although it's unlikely), fans will get an even better understanding of Ashborn's might.

The Shadow Monarch's power was nearly unparalleled. For starters, he had insanely high mana reserves, which allowed him to sustain the massive Shadow Army. His physical abilities were nothing to be scoffed at either. Using his physical strength, Ashborn could easily decimate someone like Rakan, without too many difficulties. Since Jinwoo inherited Ashborn's powers, he effectively replaced the Shadow Monarch as the strongest character in Solo Leveling.

The Wait For Solo Leveling Season 3 Goes On

A-1 Pictures Hasn't Announced The Third Season Yet

Sung Jinwoo In The Manhwa Is A Lot More Dynamic

There's no doubt that Solo Leveling's third season is going to be exciting and full of drama, but unfortunately, there is no update regarding the release date. The second season of the anime came to an end in March 2025, and since then, neither the studio nor Crunchyroll has shared any update regarding the subject. The lack of news regarding season 3 strongly indicates that the studio may not be ready to tackle the project just yet. After all, an anime like Solo Leveling takes a great deal of effort to produce. The studio cannot rush through the process either, as it would mean compromising on the animation quality, which is one of the standout features of the anime.

Earlier this year, some of the staff members were asked about the anime's next installment, but their answers only made fans more anxious. They said that Solo Leveling Season 3 would only happen if fans kept on supporting the series, which can be interpreted as it is not happening anytime soon. Fans have been vocal about Solo Leveling's third season, and they're desperate to watch it. So, there isn't a lack of effort from the fans. Sadly, Solo Leveling fans cannot do anything but wait until the official accounts drop some updates.
