Solo Leveling Season 2 ended up being absolutely phenomenal in many ways, but most of all, the combat was intense. The pacing, fights, and, most importantly, animating one of its most important arcs, led to it becoming a global phenomenon, and this led to it winning big at the Crunchyroll Awards.

As fans know already, Solo Leveling ended up winning Anime of the Year, and at the same time, Jinwoo, the protagonist for Solo Leveling, also won the award for the best main character. While it is a given that Jinwoo is a great character and certainly fun to follow, it is also clear that 1 character stood taller in anime this year.

Solo Leveling won big at the Crunchyroll Awards earlier this year, and that was to be expected after the phenomenal season that it delivered. Despite having just 25 episodes in total, Solo Leveling has done incredibly well to completely dominate the industry and fans can't get enough of it.

Solo Leveling won the Anime of the Year, which was the most prestigious award, and it also went on to win the award for the Best Main Character. While it goes without saying that Solo Leveling is amazing and has its own qualities, not all fans agree that Sung Jinwoo was the best main character of the year.

In fact, many fans seemed rather annoyed at Jinwoo winning the best main character award, and this is because the other nominees themselves were far better. At the end of the day, Solo Leveling has flashy fights and big battles, and that's what more people like, but as a character, Jinwoo was arguably the worst one in the bunch.

Maomao has a lot more to offer than Jinwoo, and while she doesn't take part in flashy fights, her wit, personality, character development, and overall story make her worthy of being the best main character of 2025, and it shouldn't even be close.

Frieren Also Stands Among The Best

Another character that many fans wanted to win was Frieren, and while she didn't win, she, too, stood out as the better character when compared to Jinwoo. Unfortunately, big fights and action are easier for most fans to follow, as is a protagonist who is entirely built on battles.
