This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling series.
Solo Leveling has continued strong since its initial release, and fans absolutely can't get enough of it, which is why they're eagerly waiting for an update on the future of the franchise from those in charge. Solo Leveling Season 2 officially wrapped up in early 2025, and since then, fans haven't heard anything about the series' return at all. Usually, the plans for the future are announced immediately for big series, but the silence from the Solo Leveling studio was rather bizarre. To this day, there's been no word of a Season 3, but it seems all that was for a reason.
Solo Leveling Season 3 isn't happening, according to the latest reports, and it's all because the next Solo Leveling project is far bigger than anything that fans could've imagined. 2025 saw a major shift in the strategy for various anime studios, especially after the massive success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. Solo Leveling is no different in that regard, and it seems that right now, the plan is for the studio to go bigger than ever before by producing a legendary movie that's going to blow everyone away.
Solo Leveling Is Now Aiming For Movie Success Like Demon Slayer
Solo Leveling has already dominated when it comes to anime. The series has been absolutely phenomenal so far, and the two seasons that A-1 Pictures have produced have had sensational quality. Solo Leveling is Crunchyroll's highest-rated anime overall, and it is also their anime of the year for 2025. But, now, it seems that the studio is planning for something even bigger.

Based on recent reports, Solo Leveling is now aiming for great success in the movie department. According to the latest reports from the production committee of Solo Leveling, the series isn't going to get a third season but instead a movie release, and the reason behind it might be Demon Slayer. As fans know, Demon Slayer received a massive new project in 2025 that marked the beginning of the coverage of the final arc in a trilogy of movies.
The first movie, Infinity Castle Part 1: Akaza's Return, dropped in the summer and it became the biggest anime movie of all time. Clearly, anime is mainstream now and studios of popular series will only try to adapt canon material into movies more often to get more fans to the theatres, instead of doing non-canon side movies like they used to before. Solo Leveling's production team know this as well, and they want to follow suit to get even greater success.
Solo Leveling Movie Could Be Released In Late 2026
While not much has been revealed about the Solo Leveling movie project yet, what fans do know is that it'll come out at some point in late 2026. It is also in very early stages of production at the moment, according to reports. In other words, this 2026 release date isn't confirmed either, and changes in production could push it back even further. But, at the very least, fans have a very exciting Solo Leveling project to look forward to now, and if the adaptation is really good, then given the success of Solo Leveling so far, this movie could end up being absolutely massive.

Solo Leveling Might Not Get An Anime Season Anymore
If Solo Leveling's upcoming project is truly a movie, and if it's as successful as the studio expects, then it is likely that they'll follow it up with another movie to wrap things up, and in that case, Solo Leveling won't get an anime season anymore. Of course, that's assuming they don't follow Demon Slayer's strategy of releasing the same movies in anime episodes later down the line.
Solo Leveling has 25 episodes available to watch right now. The series can be streamed on Crunchyroll. Fans can get more Solo Leveling content via the Manhwa.
