With the massive success of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic 4 being greenlit, many wonder about the new characters who could join the next movie. Two writers shared their picks and they both named one character in common.
Sonic the Hedgehog writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller spoke with GamesRadar. The pair were asked to name the characters they wanted to add to the next movie. Both admitted wanting to see the Big the Cat on the big screen. "We've done a lot of thinking about a lot of these characters, ones who haven't appeared, may not appear," Casey shared. "And, you know, it's like, how would we do Silver? Well, how do we do Big the Cat? That's the really important one. But that's for the future, and we'll see." Casey was also considering Rouge the Bat because she believed she would be a "great movie character." "It's such a classic archetype, but we'll see," he added.
While Casey named three characters – Silver, Big the Cat, and Rouge the Bat – Miller shared the same sentiment regarding adding Big the Cat in future movies.
But which character would I love to see? My joke answer that probably isn't a joke… at some point in time, we gotta get Big the Cat in there in some capacity. I like the idea of imagining what he looks like rendered out in Sonic movie fashion
Big is a large, anthropomorphic cat with purple fur. He may not be the wisest or fastest, but he has a heart of gold. He is laid-back, gentle, friendly, and incredibly loyal to his pals. His friendly nature doesn't draw him into conflict. Instead, he prefers relaxing activities like fishing and peaceful environments.
Big the Cat is such an adorable character, so there is no doubt that he will be a great addition to Sonic's circle. He is easygoing and funny, so he will surely bring balance to the action-packed and emotional scenes. His humor will be a comic relief, and his genuine kindness will surely appeal to the audience. Big the Cat is someone his friends can rely on, and he is the type who will do everything to protect those dear to him, so he is very relatable.
Aside from his personality, Big the Cat adds a unique visual and physical presence on screen due to his large size and bright color, which are hard to resist. You'll eventually be drawn to his presence. Several Sonic the Hedgehog fans love Big the Cat, so his addition to Sonic 4 will surely be a delight to many.
