Sonic Rumble has clarified that the time-limited skins available to those who have access to the game ahead of its worldwide release will "absolutely" return in the future. Developed by Sega's in-house studio Sonic Team in tandem with Angry Birds creator Rovio, Sonic Rumble is a battle royale game coming to Android, iOS, and PC in Spring 2025.

Sonic Rumble is an online party game take on the franchise, with support for up to 32 players and various different game modes. It revolves around the players engaging in minigames across a series of rounds until only the winner is left. While Sonic Rumble is only available in certain countries at the moment, such as Brazil, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Belgiuim, it has been open for pre-registrations around the globe since December 5, 2024, for players on all supported platforms. Recently, the devs revealed that they were bringing limited-time content to keep the Sonic game fresh for those with access and also assured that all fans could eventually get an opportunity to claim these items.

On Twitter, Sonic Rumble devs cleared the air around the future of the limited-time cosmetics currently there in Sega's game. They shared that "many" of the temporarily available skins, Chaos, and stickers "will make a comeback" after the party title launches globally. However, they also highlighted that they "cannot guarantee" every cosmetic item would make a return to the game "immediately." Instead, it was expressed that the team "will try to give" every player a shot at unlocking the limited-time items "eventually." About similar in-game events, Sonic Rumble confirmed the arrival of "plenty of opportunities" for anticipating players. Moreover, they reiterated their focus on making the battle royale title available for everyone around the world in the "near future."

Sonic Rumble to See the Return of Limited-Time Cosmetic Items

The assurance from Sega devs about the missed content becoming up for grabs for all Sonic Rumble players at some point is a promising move for the future of the title. With more than 600,000 users still in the pre-registration stage, it may be fair to say that the latest announcement caters to a chunk of the new game's official population.

In the meantime, apart from cosmetic additions, Sonic Rumble players can look forward to fresh changes in other key aspects as well. Among the features planned for the game in the future, the devs have mentioned Quick Rumble and Rival Rank game modes, the Crews feature, and more. With 2025 passing by the day, Sonic the Hedgehog fans may finally find out Sonic Rumble's official release date in the coming months.
