Yet another Sonic X Shadow Generations bonus has just been revealed, and fans who buy the Digital Deluxe version of the game will get to play as Keanu Reeves’ Shadow. An updated version of the 2010 anniversary title Sonic Generations is slated to launch on October 25, but there is more to it than just the old game with enhanced graphics. A new story campaign centered on Shadow is also included in Sonic X Shadow Generations, with the edgy black hedgehog forced to battle figures from his own haunted past using incredible new Doom powers.

Pre-order bonuses are par for the course for noteworthy releases like Sonic X Shadow Generations, and Sega has already revealed plenty of alternate character skins for those who buy the game ahead of its release next month. The first of these was a version of Sonic based on his appearance in the original Sonic Adventure, followed by another based on the ill-fated Sonic Jam and an alternate Shadow skin themed after "Terios," a prototype version of the Ultimate Life Form that was planned for Sonic Adventure 2 before Shadow’s final design was completed.

During September 24’s Sony State of Play livestream, Sega announced that fans who purchase the Sonic X Shadow Generations Digital Deluxe edition will gain access to another playable version of Shadow inspired by his upcoming appearance on the big screen. The Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack will go live on December 12, roughly a week before the release of the film, and includes a Shadow skin and a special level themed after the movie. Additionally, Keanu Reeves’s voice will be included in the DLC, and it can be heard as the hedgehog evades G.U.N. Forces through a darkened city.

Sonic X Shadow Generations Digital Deluxe Edition Includes Movie Shadow

Keanu Reeves’s starring Sonic the Hedgehog 3 role will serve as the capstone for Sega’s Year of Shadow promotion, which has run throughout 2024 and featured plenty of games, media, and events centered around Sonic’s antihero doppelganger. Based on Shadow’s debut in Sonic Adventure 2, the movie will see Sonic and his friends join forces with Dr. Robotnik to save the world from destruction when the dark hedgehog is awakened and proves to be more than a match for his more heroic blue counterpart.

Keanu Reeves was a fan favorite to voice the live-action version of Shadow the Hedgehog before he was officially cast earlier this year, and now players will get to control his version of the Ultimate Life Form in the upcoming Sonic X Shadow Generations as part of its Digital Deluxe edition. In addition to the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack, the Digital Deluxe versions will let fans play the game three days ahead of its release next month.
