Following the release of the latest Sonic X Shadow Generations trailer, fans have managed to spot one of Shadow the Hedgehog's most important allies, E-123 Omega. The upcoming Sonic X Shadow Generations is one of the most highly anticipated releases by Sonic fans. Not only is the 2011 original game getting remastered for modern systems, it also comes with a brand-new story campaign focused on Shadow the Hedgehog. Sega and Sonic Team are revisiting the character's history and playable appearances, while adding some new abilities for Shadow to play with.

Many of these were showcased in Sonic X Shadow Generations' Doom Powers trailer, with various new powers and levels being showcased. Settings include Sunset Heights from Sonic Forces and Chaos Island from Sonic Frontiers. The Metal Overlord from Sonic Heroes was also spotlighted as a boss fight that Shadow will have to overcome as well, greatly exciting fans. Eagle-eyed fans were also able to see a character that wasn't given much attention in the trailer, but was still incredibly important: E-123 Omega.

Sega gives fans a brief preview of a returning villain in Sonic X Shadow Generations, who is one of Shadow the Hedgehog's most personal foes.

Omega can be spotted in the Doom Powers trailer right after the reveal of the Doom Surf ability. While Shadow is surfing atop of water, Omega can be seen off to the left side of the video, in front of the gate of Shadow Generations' Space Colony Ark level. In the original Sonic Generations, when a player completed one of the level's acts, it would end up freeing the character from their stasis in White Space, allowing the player to engage in various mini-game missions with the freed character. Omega wasn't originally in Sonic Generations, so he could play the same role in Shadow Generations.

E-123 Omega Is Set to Appear in Shadow Generations

E-123 Omega was first introduced in Sonic Heroes as a power-type character for Team Dark, allying himself with Shadow the Hedgehog and Rouge the Bat to take down Eggman and his robots to prove himself the superior one. While Omega has been an incredibly endearing character for fans, he's only had a handful of appearances, with his most recent ones outside of things like the IDW comics being Team Sonic Racing back in 2019 and 2017's Sonic Forces in terms of mainline games. Omega's appearance in Shadow Generations is greatly exciting for fans of the character.

Based on Omega's presence, it's likely Shadow will meet other familiar characters from his history. Considering the unexpected return of Emerl in the Dark Beginnings prologue, it's possible Shadow might get a chance to talk with him in White Space as well. This is just speculation for now though, so fans will need to wait until Sonic X Shadow Generations' launch to see what role Omega plays in Shadow's campaign.
