You can have up to 8 players in one game, which means that you and seven friends can play together in Sons of the Forest. That’s actually a pretty big group compared to a lot of other survival games. The smallest you can go in terms of multiplayer is two players. So as long as you have one friend to join you, you are good to go.

How Does Multiplayer Work in Sons of the Forest?

If you want to play SOTF with your friends, you will need to go to the main menu and click on ‘Multiplayer.’ Players will see two options here: You can either host a game or join someone else’s. If you want to host, choose ‘Host’ and then click ‘New Game.’ After that, you’ll be given some options to set up your server, like choosing a name and deciding how many people can join.

If you want to join a server instead, you should click ‘Join’ and search for the server you want to play on. When you join, the game will start with the helicopter crash scene, just like in solo mode.

One of the best things about playing Sons of the Forest with friends is that the game automatically gives you more loot based on how many people are in your squad. So, if you are playing with five friends, the game will drop enough resources for everyone. However, it's important to keep in mind that more players also means more cannibals to fight.
