How To Get Turtle Shells In Sons Of The Forest

In Sons of the Forest, turtles are peaceful creatures, making them relatively easy to hunt. They're commonly found in abundance on sandy beaches, where they build their nests. No matter where you are in the game, you can easily walk to the nearest beach and find plenty of turtles roaming around.

Turtles can also be found around lakes and ponds, but they typically don't yield shells when hunted. So, keep an eye out for sea turtles specifically if you're looking to collect shells.

Once you find a Turtle, you can use any melee weapon to hunt it down. Aim at the head or limbs of the Turtle, as those are its vulnerable parts. After knocking it dead, use a knife to skin the Turtle and carve out Turtle Shells. You can also grab the Turtle Meat for sustenance. Once obtained, your collected turtle shells will appear in the top-right corner of your inventory.

How To Use Turtle Shells In Sons Of The Forest

At the time of writing, there is only one use of the Turtle Shells in the game: to build a Rain Catcher.

12x Sticks

Sticks are pretty easy to collect, as they are scattered all over the island. After collecting all the items, simply open the Guide Book and craft yourself a Rain Catcher. A Rain Catcher is a handy item in Sons of the Forest, as it stores rainwater, which you can use for drinking and cooking in the game.
