Summary
- PlayStation Plus users receive another wave of compensation from Sony for the February PSN outage.
- Some users are only getting two free days of PS Plus due to late email notifications from Sony.
PlayStation Plus users have reported another wave of compensation from Sony after the massive PlayStation Network outage made waves back in February. Since PlayStation Plus subscribers are in the millions, it’s taking a lengthy time for the company to roll out compensation to everyone, and there’s been plenty of complaints from players based on how it’s being handled.
PlayStation Plus is a membership allowing PlayStation users access to hundreds of games within the regular catalog, the Classics line-up, and Game Trials. Extra and Premium memberships are also on offer, supplying extra features like Ubisoft+ Classics and PS5 Cloud streaming. As a peace token for the massive PSN outage, specific games like Fallout 76 offered in-game compensation, alongside Destiny 2, and while Sony is continuing its freebies, not all members are satisfied.
Sony Makes Helpful PlayStation Store Change
Sony improves a feature on the PlayStation Store, making life easier for some gamers who frequently enjoy using the digital storefront.
Posted on Reddit by LesExposNosAmours, the user shared a screenshot on the PlayStation subreddit, highlighting an email sent from Sony regarding compensation. The PlayStation Network’s server outage occurred back in February 2025 and lasted for approximately 24 hours, and recent reports are indicating another wave of freebies being issued to players as reimbursement. Generally, PlayStation Plus members receive five free days of the subscription, but users aren’t fully satisfied with the offer.
PlayStation Plus Members Are Receiving Compensation Emails a Few Days Late
Many PlayStation Plus users were previously compensated for the outage, but entering into Sony’s next wave, players are reporting a flaw in the system that cuts those free five days short. The Redditor noted the compensation email was received three days after the free five days began, meaning the user only had two free days of PS Plus to use. Several other Redditors shared a similar experience in the comments section, saying they received the same email a few days after the freebie’s start date. The original poster also noted that they didn’t even have a PS Plus membership to begin with, which means the February network outage didn’t affect them in the first place.
To make matters worse, PS Plus subscribers in India are missing out on one of the three new games added to the catalog for April 2025. RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory were the games up for grabs, but the latter Digimon title was unavailable for players in India to redeem. With PlayStation players experiencing so many technical issues lately, Sony will have its hands full for a time.
