Sony has confirmed that the sci-fi action-adventure title Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 will be getting a game trial on PS Plus Premium next month. Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 launched just a few months ago, but with PS Plus celebrating PlayStation's 30th anniversary in December 2024, the service's Premium tier will treat its subscribers to a free trial of the fan-favorite grimdark shooter.

Developed by Saber Interactive, Space Marine 2 has accrued extensive critical and commercial acclaim since it was released back in September 2024. Space Marine 2 surpassed an impressive 4.5 million player count in October 2024, and that figure has likely grown since then. Saber Interactive did face some backlash from the Space Marine 2 community over recent updates to the game, but the developer acted quickly to alleviate the concerns. Moreover, Space Marine 2 is set to receive a bevy of new content come December 2024.

Aside from the addition of exciting new content, Space Marine 2 fans (particularly those on PS5) have one more development to look out for next month. A recent PlayStation Blog post revealed that a Space Marine 2 game trial will go live on PS Plus Premium beginning December 3, 2024. Game trials, especially for high-profile titles like Space Marine 2, are added rather infrequently to PS Plus Premium. For instance, Stellar Blade's game trial joined PS Plus Premium in June 2024, and no other trials have been added since.

It's worth noting, though, that the exact duration of Space Marine 2's game trial has not been announced yet. Big AAA titles are usually available to try out for two hours on PS Plus Premium, so Space Marine 2's game trial will likely weigh in at a similar duration. It should be interesting to see if Space Marine 2's PS Plus Premium trial will drive a surge in the game's sales as well.

The 30th anniversary festivities for PS Plus Premium don't end there. In addition to Space Marine 2's game trial, PS Plus Premium will add three PS2 classics in December 2024, namely Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, and Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. PS Plus Essential subscribers, meanwhile, will receive 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, Pokemon-inspired MMO Temtem, and strategy title Aliens: Dark Descent.
