Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has received a new update that brings gameplay tweaks and a number of bug fixes for players across all platforms. It is the second update of its kind released since the new major content drop for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 that became available on September 4.
Since hitting the shelves in September 2024, Space Marine 2 has done remarkably well and sold over seven million copies, as of June 2025. Courtesy of a slew of post-launch content, it has continued to captivate players and still draws in 10,000 to 20,000 concurrent players every month on Steam alone. In a move to boost engagement, the Saber Interactive-developed title recently shipped a content-rich Anniversary Update, which the devs are now working to optimize through smaller updates.
Space Marine 2 Details Anniversary Update and Year 2 Roadmap
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 celebrates its anniversary with a massive new update and a roadmap for the future, showcasing the game’s next phase.
In a new announcement, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 devs rolled out a new update, Hotfix 10.2 Patch, for the hack-and-slash game on PC and consoles. It is the second hotfix since the arrival of the big Anniversary Update earlier this month. Importantly, the latest patch addresses some balancing issues, alongside certain critical bugs present in the game. First off, the bug that made friendly-fire possible for the Assault's Ascension perk has been resolved. Another major issue, which caused Stratagems to have more Battlefield Conditions than those listed, has also been fixed.
Moreover, stat adjustments have been implemented in Space Marine 2's Heroic Chainsword, including a 15% bump to its Heavy Attack damage. Similarly, the number of Chaos Spawns appearing in packs has also been adjusted to match its Tyranid Warrior counterpart. Sniper’s Camo Cloak activation cost change, originally planned to come with Patch 11.0, has been implemented ahead of time with this new update. As previously shared by the studio, this particular change aims to stop unlimited cloak-canceling in the game. Apart from these changes, a range of bugs, affecting everything from connectivity to localization, have also been addressed in the latest patch.
Back in March 2025, the plans for a sequel to Space Marine 2 were confirmed, with Saber Interactive helming the project once again. A couple of months later, more about the franchise's future was also revealed at the Skulls Showcase. From Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 to the remaster of 2004's Dawn of War, fans have quite a few Warhammer 40,000 titles to look forward to over the next year or so. As for Space Marine 3, given that it has only been announced some months ago, fans may have to wait for at least a few years before they get their hands on that game.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Hotfix 10.2 Patch Notes (September 19, 2025)
GAMEPLAY AND BALANCING TWEAKS
Heroic Chainsword:
- Rebalanced base stats.
- Reworked its perk: Light->Heavy->Heavy combo now ends with a Stomp attack.
- All Heavy attacks damage increased by 15%.
Stratagems:
- Fixed an issue where Daily Stratagems could have more Battlefield Conditions than listed.
Camo Cloak's activation cost:
The activation cost of the Sniper ability has been changed. Now it works this way:
- The first three uses of Camo Cloak in a row do not take away energy by themselves (the ability consumes energy, as before). The fourth activation takes away 5% of energy instantly, each subsequent one takes away a little more. After the last use, there is a 10-second timer, after which the activation cost again becomes zero.
With the right perk set up, you can still do 5-6 cloak cancels in a row. Cloak cancel will still be very rewarding to learn and to do, but you won't be able to abuse it endlessly while staying invisible and invulnerable to enemies.
Spawn Director:
- The number of Chaos Spawns in packs is slightly reduced and now matches Tyranid Warriors.
GENERAL FIXES

- Improved flame weapons VFX visibility for allies.
- Fixed an issue that prevented bots from entering elevators in Exfiltration operation.
- Fixed perks dealing friendly fire damage.
- Fixed PvP connectivity issues.
- Minor localization fixes.
- Minor UI fixes.
