Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be treated to the day one release of the recently announced Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Master Crafted Edition remaster that's coming this summer. The Warhammer Skulls showcase just went live with a ton of exciting news for fans of the sci-fi universe, including Space Marine 2's Siege Mode and the reveal of Boltgun 2. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the show was the current-gen remaster of the original Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, which, after the success of Space Marine 2 last year, feels like a no-brainer.

The original Warhammer 40K: Space Marine was released during the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 era in 2011. The game was a standout title for fans of third-person shooters, and now, after well over a decade, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 released to glowing praise and became one of 2024's biggest surprises, even ending up on many gamers' Game of the Year shortlists.

Now, while Warhammer 40K fans are still riding high after Space Marine 2, a remaster of its predecessor named Space Marine Master Crafted Edition has just been unveiled with a gameplay trailer during the Warhammer Skulls showcase. Made by remaster and porting studio SneakyBox, this Master Crafted Edition of the original Space Marine touts 4K resolution and updated audio, controls, character models, and more. The best part is that gamers only have to wait a few weeks, as it's coming out on June 10, and will be a day one Xbox Game Pass release.

Strangely, Space Marine Master Crafted Edition only seems to be coming to Xbox and PC, at least at launch, as PlayStation 5 is nowhere to be seen in any part of the remaster's reveal. The original 2011 game was released on PlayStation 3, and Space Marine 2 was also a multiplatform console release. It's currently unknown whether its PS5 omission is due to some sort of marketing partnership with Xbox and Game Pass, or whether the PS5 version hit some roadblocks and is coming at a later date. Nevertheless, Space Marine Master Crafted Edition seems to be an excellent jumping on point for gamers who might have held off on Space Marine 2 for never having played the original. Now, they can start at the very beginning of the duology without having to hunt down an Xbox 360 or PS3 copy of Space Marine.

With the massive success of Space Marine 2, it's no surprise that Space Marine 3 has already been confirmed by Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment. Saber currently has an astonishing number of games in development at the moment, like Jurassic Park Survival, Turok: Origins, and the ever-elusive Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake. With so much on Saber's plate, Warhammer fans shouldn't expect Space Marine 3 for another several years.
