To win, players need to upgrade their gear to unlock new powers and farm items to progressively improve their characters. Its successful release led to many Vampire Survivors-inspired games. On the other hand, Halo is one of the most iconic franchises in the industry, spanning many titles over the years, with characters that have become part of pop culture. Now, a new game that combines elements of both has been released.

Taking to Blue Sky, a developer called JuanGGZ announced the PC release of Spartan Survivors, a game that mixes “roguelite, Halo, and bullet heaven for hours of mindless fun.” The trailer shows footage of the game featuring hordes of Halo’s Covenant and Flood enemies coming from every direction, while the player stands in the middle, fighting them all. The visuals strongly resemble Vampire Survivors, featuring the same chaotic gameplay and enemy-filled scenarios. Those who want to give Spartan Survivors a try can get the game for free through itch.io, with a potential Steam and Xbox release planned for the summer.

A typical Vampire Survivors stage can last 30 minutes, though there are also 15- and 20-minute stages. For Spartan Survivors, the developer hasn’t specified exactly how long each session lasts, only noting that it takes “a few minutes.” Players can choose to play as Master Chief or the Arbiter and have 21 different weapons to unlock, along with 105 evolutions, 56 upgrades, and 14 perks.

The game also features 10 different levels and five difficulty options to suit different play styles, including Easy, Normal, Heroic, Legendary, and Endless. While players explore this Halo-Vampire Survivors hybrid, it’s worth noting that both games' influences have expanded beyond just video games: Halo with a TV series that was unfortunately canceled, and Vampire Survivors with an upcoming movie.
