Despite sharing the Spider-Man name, Miles Morales and Peter Parker are obviously two different people, both as themselves and their superhero alter egos. Insomniac Games wants to highlight these differences in the upcoming Spider-Man Miles Morales to better show off how Miles stands out as his own hero.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Brian Horton and Bryan Intihar — the creative directors behind Spider-Man Miles Morales — spoke about how the upcoming PS5 exclusive will go about highlighting Peter and Miles' differences. The most obvious method will be through Spider-Man Miles Morales gameplay, as Miles' Spider-Man powers differ from Peter's.

In the interview, the duo reveals that Peter will be teaching Miles how to hone his Spider-Man abilities better, but while Miles will be learning the basics of Spider-Man powers from Peter, he'll apply them in his own way. Horton and Intihar imply that all of Miles' animations and movements will be unique to display this.

In other words, Miles will get around New York with his own flair, and his basic fighting style will differ from Peter's even before he throws his unique powers into the mix. And from the way Horton and Intihar describe their vision, Miles' unique abilities will tie into new mechanics that Spider-Man Miles Morales will introduce.

While the game's gameplay will be the most apparent way Spider-Man Miles Morales shows that Miles and Peter differ, it won't be the only one. The game's story will also highlight how these two characters juggle their daily lives and their Spider-Man responsibilities.

How exactly it will go about doing this remains unseen, but Horton mentions that Peter's Spider-Man origin "was born out of tragedy" due to the death of his Uncle Ben, while Miles' origin "is more so born out of family." Essentially, Peter has a harder time being able to open up about his identity, but Miles has a history of letting his family and friends in on his secret. With that in mind, Miles will likely reveal who he is to his mother in Spider-Man Miles Morales.

The two creative directors also talk about how Miles' differences will serve his hero's journey. The hero's journey in this instance refers to Spider-Man Miles Morales' story, which Horton describes as delivering a full character arc for Miles, one that will complete the journey he started down in Spider-Man PS4. Basically, the game will show players how Miles becomes Spider-Man.
