Nintendo reveals the dates for the next limited-time Splatoon 3 Big Run event that will be taking place during the Sizzle Season over the Summer. Splatoon 3 has been a very positively received game since its release last year, with Nintendo having supported the title with regular updates and events. This consists of various multiplayer modes that appeal to a variety of fans, from the standard team-based splatfights to the co-op-focused Salmon Run. The next limited-time variation on Salmon Run has been announced for next month. For the uninitiated, Splatoon 3's Big Run is a limited-time online event that sees players battling waves upon waves of Salmonids to collect golden eggs. Unlike normal shifts of Salmon Run, which have their own unique stages that are designed for the mode, Big Run has these shifts take place on certain stages that are usually reserved for modes like Turf War, Anarchy Battle, or X Battles. The first iteration ran in December, with its second one running throughout April. The third iteration of this event has been announced, along with its dates.RELATED: Splatoon 3 Zelda Splatfest Winning Team and Results This was announced on Nintendo of Europe's Twitter account, where it reveals that players will need to fend off Salmonids from the Undertow Spillway. Undertow Spillway is one of the new stages that was introduced during Splatoon 3's launch, featuring Ink Rails and sponge obstacles. In-universe, it is an abandoned flood bypass that was renovated into a stage for Turf War. Fans will be able to participate in this shift, which will run from June 10 to June 12, with a special reward being available for those who take part in it.

When is Splatoon 3's June Big Run Event?

  • Saturday, June 10 to Monday, June 12, 2023

The tweet from Nintendo of Europe also notes a big change to Big Run, where Splatoon 3 players will be compensated with double the number of fish scales that they've earned in previous shifts. This change will stick, with future events also paying out this revised figure of fish scales. Splatoon 3's fish scales are a form of currency normally earned when fighting King Salmonids during extra waves during Salmon Run, which can be exchanged for various prizes at Grizzco.

The last two Big Run events featured big boss King Salmonids for players to contend with during these shifts, including the Cohozuna, the Kaiju-esque Cohock enemies, and the Horrorboros enemies during the second Big Run event. While another unique King Salmonid hasn't been revealed yet, there could be another monstrous enemy that could be shown off before it begins this June.

Splatoon 3 is available now for Nintendo Switch.
