Nintendo has just unveiled its first look at Splatoon 3' s Chill Season 2023 update. The free seasonal content is the follow-up to Splatoon 3' s fall event, Drizzle Season. Just as with Splatoon 3' s Drizzle Season 5.0 update, fans can expect a new catalog, stages, and weapons, as well as some returning fan-favorite content.
Splatoon 3 is just over a year old at this point, but, as with previous franchise entries, the developers have been good about supporting the game with free content updates. Not to mention, Splatoon 3 revealed paid DLC called Side Order. The Side Order DLC was shown off in the most recent Nintendo Direct, but fans still have to wait until spring 2024 before it is released. Luckily, the Big N has just debuted the first look at the game's next free update while fans of the family-friendly shooter wait.
Nintendo just released a trailer for the upcoming Splatoon 3 update, Chill Season 2023. The video shows off a new ramen shop-inspired stage Robo ROM-en, a returning map in Bluefin Depot, a new special titled Splattercolor Screen, and a fresh single from the in-game band Chirpy Chirps called "No Quarters." The trailer also potentially teases some new weapon kits, a new King Salmonid, and a new Big Run event at multiplayer stage Barnacle & Dime.
Splatoon 3 Chill Season 2023 Overview
- New Robo ROM-en stage
- Returning Bluefin Depot stage
- New Splattercolor Screen special weapon
- New Chirpy Chiprys single titled "No Quarters"
- Potentially new weapon kits, Boss Salmonid, and Big Run
Judging by everything revealed in Splatoon 3' s Chill Season 2022 event, there is certain to be new gear making its way into the game as well. Weapons and maps are some of the big headliners, but as Splatoon fans know, the music and gear make up a large portion of the series' aesthetic and feel. And judging by fans' reactions, the new Chirpy Chirps single "No Quarters" already seems to be a big hit.
Splatoon 3 isn't just one of the best first-party Nintendo Switch games, it is also one of the console's premier multiplayer experiences. Alongside other first-player multiplayer hits like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Nintendo has been good about supporting these titles long after launch. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still getting new DLC despite being nearly a decade old (going back to the original release on Wii U), and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate made headlines with each new character reveal. Now, Splatoon 3 is carrying the torch for Switch multiplayer titles, and Nintendo plans to keep things fresh with free seasonal content and paid DLC.
