Nintendo has announced that the next Splatfest in Splatoon 3 will kick off on February 16 and features three options for players to pick from. Since Splatoon 3 was released in September 2022, there have been 12 Splatfests where players join one of the three options and battle against the other two sides to determine an overall winner.

Along with the regular Splatfests, Splatoon 3 is currently running The Chill Season. The sixth season of the third-person shooter brings several new weapons and maps to the game, along with fresh equipment and all-new music tracks. While players can style their Inklings and Octolings, it is the Splatfest that draws the largest crowds.

The next Splatfest was announced across Nintendo’s European social media accounts and poses the question, “What’s the best day of the weekend?” To players. The options gamers will be able to choose from are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with each member of Splatoon 3’s idol group being assigned to a day. As is customary in Splatoon 3, the event will take over the main battle arena and is scheduled to run from February 16, 2024, at 4 pm PST until the same time on February 18, 2024, and will feature both 4v4 and Tricolor Turf War.

The last Splatfest was run in January 2024 and saw players battle it out to find the answer to the question “Who do you spend the holidays with?” Out of the options “Friends,” “Family,” and “Solo,” the ultimate winner turned out to be the Solo team, which was represented by the fan-favorite idol, Big Man.

Splatfests aren’t just a way for Nintendo to draw more players to the online shooter, as they give the developers a chance to make future adjustments to the game. This can be seen in the controversial Tricolor Turf War, which has seen many improvements since the mode made its debut at the first Splatoon 3 Splatfest.

A February Splatfest isn’t the only thing players have to look forward to as the Splatoon 3: Side Order DLC is due to launch. Releasing on February 22, the additional content will give gamers a fresh new single-player expansion to explore that introduces powerful mod chips that boost the abilities of the main character depending on the mission at hand. The Side Order DLC can be purchased from the Nintendo e-Shop for $24.99 and includes both waves. Wave one of the DLC launched in 2023 and reintroduced players to the original Inkopolis from the first game.
