With Splatoon 3 about a month old and the spooky season having arrived, there is a certain outfit everyone wants. The witch outfit is the perfect gear set to wear in October. However, it is not available in-game. It cannot be bought in the stores or won through beating story mode or through catalog rewards. The outfit is obtained via amiibo.
Amiibos are figurines made by Nintendo that can connect to consoles such as Wii Us, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo Switches. They depict Nintendo characters and often have rewards in various games. Splatoon is one such series that has amiibo rewards, at least when it comes to amiibos that are of Splatoon characters.
How To Get The Witch Outfit
The specific amiibo that rewards players with a witch outfit is the Octoling Girl Amiibo. She came out in 2018 as part of the Octo Expansion DLC in Splatoon 2. In Splatoon 2, she could be summoned and would give the player a witch outfit, and it is the same deal for Splatoon 3.
The amiibo is typically sold along with the Octoling Boy and Octoling Octopus amiibos, which reward players with the Steel Platemail gear set and Fresh Fish Set.
With the Octoling Girl Amiibo ready, go to the amiibo box in Splatoon 3's Splatsville. It will prompt the player to hold the amiibo over the right analog stick. This will scan the amiibo into the game. She will not give the player rewards immediately. The witch outfit will be given one piece at a time after winning some Turf War games. Play Turf War for a while and check in with the amiibo once in a while by scanning her again. In order, she will give the player the Enchanted Boots, then the Enchanted Hat, and then Enchanted Robes A and B.
Other Games The Amiibo Works With
There is more to the Octoling Girl than just the witch outfit in Splatoon 3. She can also give the full outfit in Splatoon 2. In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, scanning her will unlock an Inkling Costume that the Mii can wear (though this is unavailable for the Wii U version).
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate the amiibo unlocks the Octoling Girl. It can also be used in Style Savvy: Styling Star to unlock a Splatoon-themed pattern. It is likely that more Nintendo games in the future will also use this amiibo for certain rewards.
