Splatoon 3's second Big Run event is coming next month, and Nintendo has revealed some details. Splatoon 3 has received positive reactions and success following its release on September 8, 2022. The third entry in the franchise has received praise—even earning Best Multiplayer Game at The Game Awards 2022. That's why Nintendo supports the title with regular events and updates, so fans can continually enjoy the game.
The Big Run is an online event that sees players battle waves of Salmonids and collect golden eggs on certain stages usually reserved for Turf War, Anarchy Battle, or X Battles. The first iteration of Splatoon 3's Big Run event ran from December 9, 2022 to December 11, 2022 and took place at the game's Wahoo World map. Players were able to attain rewards for taking part in the fully cooperative event.
Splatoon 3' s second Big Run will be happening on March 4, 2023 and will be ending on March 6, 2023, according to a tweet by Nintendo UK's official Twitter account. The tweet also mentioned that the event will be taking place at Inkblot Art Academy—a returning stage from Splatoon 2. An additional tweet gave a warning for players to keep an eye out for the Horrorboros, which looks to be the boss for this event.
The second Big Run will kick off just a few days after Splatoon 3's Fresh Season 2023 begins. This means players will have access to the new weapon kits and features which will come with the new season. Fans might be able to use the Kraken Royale to take care of the Salmonids and the aforementioned Horrorboros. Hopefully, the newly introduced items will be of big help to those looking to survive the Big Run when it hits on March 2023. Unfortunately, there has been no mention yet regarding possible rewards, details, or additional rule sets to which the event will adhere.
While all the details released seem to imply another fun adventure for players, Splatoon 3's first Big Run gathered some mixed reactions within the fan base in regards to its tone. Since it is just the game's sophomore try at running this community event, perhaps Nintendo will be able to gather more information from fan feedback and keep improving it for future runs. The title is already an entertaining romp, and events such as these will bring players in for a great cooperative experience. After all, the first one was deemed successful and seems to be the blueprint for special events within the Splatoon 3 game world.
Splatoon 3 is available now on Nintendo Switch.
