Splatoon 3 has unveiled the next Splatfest coming to the game, entitled Summer Nights. The event will feature free new cosmetics for players and unique themeing for Splatoon 3's city centers and idol groups.

Splatoon 3 has followed suit with its predecessors in holding regular Splatfests across the year. However, it's also gone a bit further as well, holding semi-regular specially-themed Splatfests that change up the way Splatsville and the idols look considerably. While this isn't something that happens with every Splatfest, major examples include the FrostyFest and Halloween Splatfests that saw the idols wear different outfits, the towns get unique decorations, and free cosmetics given away to players to help complete their Splatfest look.

June 1 is Going to Be a Big Day for Splatoon 3

Splatoon 3 fans should mark June 1 in their calendars, as Nintendo reveals that the popular third-person shooter game will receive a major update.

Now, summer is bringing a similar situation to Splatoon 3. Official Nintendo channels have revealed that the Summer Nights Sizzle Season Splatfest is in the works, though a launch window hasn't been revealed yet. To celebrate the hot part of the year, the three towns of the game have been decked out in seasonal decorations like pool floaties, flowers, and a tower of ice cream cones.

All three of the idol groups are also wearing seasonal fare, with the Squid Sisters getting the most impressive visual overhaul this time around. Deep Cut's themeing may be teasing the theme of the Splatfest, as the three are wearing accessories and colors typically associated with fruit, namely watermelon, lemon, and blueberries. However, the theme for the fight hasn't been announced yet.

Finally, Splatoon 3 has revealed a new set of cosmetic head gear that players will be able to pick up. These are usually redeemed from the Nintendo news channel, though directions on obtaining them haven't been issued yet.

What's in Splatoon 3's Future?

While players can likely expect this Splatfest to land sometime in the next couple months, the further future of Splatoon 3 remains murky. Fan are anxiously awaiting to hear if support for Splatoon 3 is winding down, but Nintendo has remain tight-lipped as of yet. With the summer season usually meaning big game reveals from all major developers and publishers, there's a good chance that something about Splatoon 3's fate will be announced soon. In the meantime, players can get psyched for the Sizzle Season update, which will add new weapons, gear, and maps tweaks in Splatoon 3.

As far as Splatfests goes, many fans are hoping that the most recent Splatfest results are a sign that things have become more balanced. The devloper changed the way Splatfest winners are calculated, which helped to nudge Frye's team into the winning spot during the last Splatfest.
