Ubisoft's Splinter Cell franchise has been dormant for quite awhile, with the latest game in the series releasing back in 2013. While no new game has been announced quite yet, Atomic Productions has put together an impressive fan film that could scratch that Splinter Cell itch for those that have been waiting years for a proper eighth generation entry in Ubisoft's stealth series.
This new Splinter Cell fan film is actually a sequel to the Splinter Cell fan film that released in 2014. Similarly to the 2014 project, this fan film serves as a prologue to the games, and follows the exploits of a young Sam Fisher as he continues to forge a friendship with his field runner, Irving Lambert.

The new fan film could make Splinter Cell enthusiasts hungry for a new game in the series on modern consoles. While nothing has been officially announced, Ubisoft has teased a new game in the series as recently as last year. Furthermore, Ubisoft re-registered the license for the Splinter Cell brand last summer, further fueling speculation that a new Splinter Cell game may be in the works.
Besides a new video game, fans of the franchise also have an official feature film adaptation to look forward to. Despite Assassin's Creed's box office woes, Ubisoft still plans on moving forward with its Splinter Cell live-action movie, with a script already written and Tom Hardy attached to star as Sam Fisher.
It will be interesting to see what direction the Splinter Cell movie takes when it finally does hit theaters. It's possible that it could be like the Atomic Productions fan film, and serve as a prologue that explores Sam Fisher's early days as a special ops agent. Alternatively, it could try to match the timeline of the video games, and introduce moviegoers to an older, veteran Sam Fisher instead.
