  • Ubisoft Toronto's social media update sparks speculation that Splinter Cell Remake will be featured during June's Ubisoft Forward 2024.

Following the reveal date for Ubisoft Forward 2024, the Toronto studio updates its social media profile with Sam Fisher's iconic green trigoggle glow, hinting at new reveals for the upcoming Splinter Cell Remake. Splinter Cell continues to be a fan favorite title within Ubisoft catalog, even though the last release in the franchise came back in 2013. For years, fans have continued to wait for any news of a new entry in the stealth-action franchise, especially following Ubisoft's former E3 press conferences.

However, the silence around the dormant franchise finally changed in 2021, when Ubisoft announced it was remaking the original Splinter Cell. While not a new game in the traditional sense, Ubisoft Toronto appears to be updating and rewriting parts of the original story based on past job listings for a Scriptwriter. Unfortunately, since that reveal announcement, details have been incredibly scarce outside of the fact that the game will be using Massive Entertainment's Snowdrop engine. Thankfully, it appears the silence is nearing an end, as Ubisoft Forward 2024 approaches.

Splinter Cell Remake Is 'Rewriting' the Story

While Ubisoft remains quiet on the development of Splinter Cell Remake, new details confirm that the original story will be modernized.

Following the official demise of E3 as well as a move to digital showcases, Ubisoft announced the return of its showcase event in 2024. Set to kick off on June 10 from Los Angeles, Ubisoft Forward is set to update fans about current Ubisoft titles, as well as showcase what the company has planned for the future. Speculation has turned to the mysterious Splinter Cell Remake, which has largely gone quiet following its announcement a few years ago. The announcement also coincided with a sneaky social media update to the official Ubisoft Toronto page, which many have taken to be a clear indication that Splinter Cell may finally be featured this year during the showcase.

Ubisoft Toronto's Timely Social Media Update

The social media change was highlighted by Idle Sloth, who posted the sneaky change over Twitter. The Facebook header and profile picture change by the Toronto studio coincided with the Ubisoft Forward 2024 reveal, showcasing the green glow of Sam FIsher's iconic trigoggles. Considering the timing of the social media change, many have assumed it's directly related and indicates that the Splinter Cell Remake is finally ready to be shown off, with some even hoping for some sort of release date as well.

News regarding the upcoming game has been few and far between, though fans got a small taste back in 2022 as Ubisoft released a short celebration trailer for the Splinter Cell franchise reaching its 20th anniversary. In it, developers confirmed that players could complete the entire game without killing anyone, giving players more flexibility thanks to a wider selection of gadgets to choose from, as well as better movement abilities. However, player concern also reached new heights that same year as the Splinter Cell Remake game director departed the studio, leaving fans hopeful that the game was still on a good path. Either way, it seems fans won't have to wait too much longer to see what Ubisoft has been up to.
